English Functional Skills - Entry Level 2 - Writing

This resource has been designed for students working towards Entry Level 2 Functional Skills English certification (Edexcel-Pearson, NCFE, City and Guilds, NOCN and Open Awards). It contains an age-appropriate, editable, 125-slide PowerPoint lesson and a 24-page workbook on the Entry Level 2 writing composition component - composing short, straightforward texts such as letters, e-mails and simple narratives.

Workbook

The 24-page workbook contains 18 writing tasks and two progress checks. The workbook is provided in PDF format and an editable PowerPoint version to enable personalisation of the resource. It can be used for classwork, homework, revision or as an independent learning pack.

PowerPoint

The PowerPoint clearly explains the writing skills that pupils will need in order to gain a pass in Entry Level 2 English Functional Skills. The PowerPoint is ideal for introducing the writing components of the Entry Level Functional Skills specification and for revision purposes.

These resources will help pupils to achieve the following learning outcomes:

Use basic punctuation correctly
Use the first and second letters to sequence words in alphabetical order
Spell correctly words designated for Entry Level 2
Communicate information using words and phrases appropriate to audience
and purpose
Complete a form asking for personal information
Write in compound sentences, using common conjunctions (e.g. or, and, but)
Use adjectives and simple linking words in the appropriate way
