A set of three-word sentences for children to extend by adding adverbs, adjectives and further information. We had fun with these as a class game - the children extend the sentence and then pass it on to the next person who extends it further. We’ve also had blank ones up on the wall for children to extend as they think of ideas. The rules are that you can only add to the sentence, you can’t leave words out or rearrange them and it must continue to make sense. Example: A cat slept. A brown cat slept. A brown cat slept by the fire. A brown cat slept peacefully by the fire…. and so on! The second document here is a title sheet for use with a wall display. Topics also included are: sentence structure and punctuation.
