An innovative fun, practical (Ages 7-11) Maths workshop exploring the properties of a die to solve a Mandarin die puzzle:
Pupils will learn to count and deduce Mandarin character numbers. Explore sequences and the relationships between the numbers of a die. Use these relationships to discover the Mandarin characters for numbers on a Mandarin die. Explore different die nets. Further explore number arrangements on further dice and use this information to unravel further Mandarin characters and characteristics of a die and their corresponding nets. CONTENTS: Two interactive animated power point shows one for ages (7-9) and one for ages (9-11) walking both presenter and pupils through the workshop. Includes follow-up activities and answers. Four differentiated worksheets two for each workshop. A main worksheet for the worksheet together with a follow-up activity/extension or home work worksheet. An overall workshop plan lending further guidance and links to both the National Curriculum for Maths and Modern Languages. An A4 pdf of Mandarin die nets together with one blank die net with tabs for construction. A cover and contents of the workshop.
