This is an introduction to Writing for teenagers and adults with special educational needs. It is a full course and includes student worksheets and extra writing tasks.

The resource is intended to introduce students to writing, including:

  • Writing practice
  • Writing sight words
  • Writing notes & messages
  • Writing and drafting meaningful sentences
  • Using the rules of writing, e.g. capital letters, punctuation
  • Using different forms of writing

Topics include:

  • Writing CVC words
  • Writing personal information
  • Writing sentences
  • Everyday writing tasks, e.g. lists, invitation, email, diary, planner, review, captions, recipe, poem, directions, text message, instructions, labels, signs, tweet, poems, etc.
  • Proofreading

**These worksheets are designed to cover the following learning outcomes: **

  1. Write notes and messages needed for simple tasks.
  2. Write, including drafting, at least five sentences so that they convey meaning or information.
  3. Use the rules of writing appropriately.
  4. Use a range of different forms of writing to suit purpose and audience.

These worksheets can be printed, and teachers can use them for whole-class teaching using a projector or interactive whiteboard. This resource is not currently fillable, but can be made so with specialised software.
