These activities develop reasoning skills.
This is an actvity designed for those teachers and pupils who may never have done such an activity.
There are sometimes multiple reasons for differing answers for sets of pictures or key words. This can be a difficult concept for some pupils with ASD, but you will find the discussion from it with some pupils is very interesting.
This one is fairly simple in that there are only (I think!) up to 2 answers for each set.
Work as a team. Listen to others. Explain your ideas. Improve your vocabulary.
One of these words is the odd one out. Which one? Why that one? Is there more than one answer?
Intended for KS2.
Four similar but different games.
An IWB game where chn view 3 objects, 2 that rhyme and a red herring. Chn must put the 'odd one out&' in the bin.
Remember, when exiting the game not to save changes to the file or you will have to reposition everything next time you play!
Designed as non-fiction fact cards for Literacy activities, but could be used to research similarities and differences in dinosaurs or also as Top Trump cards.
Contains information on how many legs the dinosaur walked on, which period of the Mesozoic era and approx how many million years ago they lived, diet, habitat, length, height, weight and what the name means.
PowerPoint presentation which details a simple instruction writing model - 'How to Clean Your Teeth' with a clear and concise layout.
Each slide is colourful and engaging and allows a teacher to explain the instruction genre.
Also included are sequencing, cut and stick flashcards.
Children may assemble the instructions as a paired activity cutting and pasting sequentially onto sugar paper. This task is ideal for reinforcement and will support less secure learners in an active way.
This can be used and easily adapted for other simple instruction models-
e.g. How to make a sandwich
These resources promote an active approach to writing instructions. They complement other resources within my shop - 'Writing Instructions- Introducing the Genre in an Active Manner' and Writing Instructions - 'How to Build a Snowman' which has additional literacy tasks included.
I have included several slides within the preview to allow teachers to peruse the resource more comprehensively. Hope your earners enjoy the lesson and tasks.

This set includes 26 Burlap and Chalkboard Accountable Talk Posters, and 26 duplicate posters in black and white if you need to save ink. The set includes an editable poster for each style, so you can add your own wording! Use these posters to remind students what to discuss in a group, and hold them accountable to get the work done.
You can also give each group a set of these as cards to work with. When you print, go to settings, select four slides per page. Print, cut out, and laminate. You can save them in dollar store soap boxes, ziploc baggies, bind them into little booklets, or put them on a ring. - HappyEdugator
