This lesson plan aligns with Oklahoma academic standard K.N.1.4, in which students will be able to recognize a small amount of objects (up to 10) without counting. In this packet are flashcards and an assessment. When using the flashcards, do not allow your students to count aloud, but rather announce the answer. This may be slow at first but they will speed up with practice. On the assessment, set a timer for one minute and have them announce the answers quickly rather than counting aloud.
