Spanish Sentence Making Tiles - Great Learning Manipulatives
These cards serve as both patterns for team sentences making competitions (written on colored index cards or written with different colored markers) and individual tiles for each student to form his own sentence or phrase. This is a great informal assessment and good for all learners; especially the tactile and often spelling challenged students. The teacher passes out the sheets, the students cut the individual cards out. The teacher asks a question that needs to be answered with the tiles, or says a sentence in English and the student translates it by forming the Spanish words in the correct order. I've had great success with these for all types of students, from many types of special education Spanish learners, to the gifted. Some of the structures practiced with these tiles are:

- gustar and adj. agreement
- subject pronouns, verb conjugations, tengo que, tengo, 2 verb rule
- expressions with tener
- family, possessive adj.,adjectives
- all pronouns
- preterite forms
- irregular preterite and preterite trigger words
