A lesson package including lesson plan, an interactive powertpoint and an activity sheet.
I made these resoures for the second lesson on 2D shapes. I loved teaching it and found it very successful with all children reaching the lesson objective and some going on to the challenge activity.
The presentation allows the children to identify their shape when used in real life, in this case architecture of buildings. The children found this highly engaging and were very excited when they could see their shape and had eager hands ready to point out their shape and describe it's properties.
The activity, to draw 'shape-bots'(modelled first) excited, engaged and enthused all children and they produced some excellet work.
To differentiate, I had written requirements such as how many of each different shape they needed to include, on a piece of paper and put it on each table as a "secret mission". The lowers worked alongside a TA.
The 'secret shape sandwich' game as a plenary was very successful and enabled me to identify misconceptions to recap next lesson such as misunderstanding properties, mixing up shapes etc.
It's good to leave some feedback.
