Star Art - using parabolic curves

Star Art - using parabolic curves

Fun With Lines. Templates to create 4, 5, 6 and 8 point stars. Draw straight lines connecting the dots on the templates and curves will magically appear … such fun! (Parabolic Curves).Included: ♦ 4x student templates – 4, 5, 6 and 8 point stars♦ Example stars ♦ Easy-to-follow instructions (with images)The Process: ♦ Draw the lines.♦ Colour your artwork.♦ Cut the artwork out around the circle.♦ Display the stars. The Instructions: I have provided 7 steps to complete the artwork. Each step is on one page with concise instructions and an image. Print them out or display via a data projector – a great way for your students to self-check and manage their own learning. (Plus it will save you from having to answer millions of “Is this right?” questions!)The Practise Part: At the bottom of each template there is a section to practise ruling the lines and getting the hang of making parabolic curves before attempting it on the actual template. The artwork looks tricky …. but it is actually very simple! Skill enhancement: ruling straight lines with precision. Keywords: parabolic curves, string art, line art, geometry, math, ruler, straight lines, star, space, galaxy, © Suzanne Welch Teaching Resources

'Outstanding' lesson on classifying angles into acute, right and obtuse (cross curricular link)

'Outstanding' lesson on classifying angles into acute, right and obtuse (cross curricular link)

This is a lesson I used for a recent observation in Year 3 (it's also relevant for Year 4) in which I was graded 'outstanding'. It teaches children to classify angles into acute, right and obtuse with a cross-curricular link to Science (angles of light). A lesson plan complete with all the activities, worksheets, resources and clear visual presentation is included. The lesson has a higher ability starter where they must work out missing number problems in context (missing angles within right angles.) Because they are multi-step problems they can be used evidence of greater depth learners. Thanks for looking. For more quality maths resources, please see my shop by following the link below: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/d_roberts1

Multicultural Bundle

Multicultural Bundle

I have created presentations about different aspects of living in harmony with other people from other nations. It is great for harmony day and also the International Day For The Elimination Of Racial Discrimination. I have included a range of different presentations of different countries around the world. You are able to compare and contrast lives in other places. I have included stories from India, as this is the largest ethnic minority in the UK, and I thought it would be nice to see the differences and similarities between the two countries. I have also included 2 presentations about the Brexit (Brexit Conversation Ideas and International Day For the Elimination of Racial Discrimination - which covers Britain pre- and post Brexit and its crime rates).

Science Class Assembly Script: Light

Science Class Assembly Script: Light

This resource is a class assembly that I did with my Year 3 and 4 classes about our cross-curricular topic for the term: Light. To make the script I split the class into five groups, and gave each group a question to research with helpful bullet points. They went away and did this over a lesson, making the notes from which I made a class assembly script! The script can easily be adapted to change children's names or to add or take away parts. The script also includes visual activities or objects that groups can be showing to support their part of the assembly.Group topics include:What is light?Sources of lightDarknessShadowsReflectionsIt is designed to be an informative assembly, but fun and easily for an audience to follow. Enjoy!
