Real life maths involving money (differentiated).

Real life maths involving money (differentiated).

I have created a bank of 15 different items that can be purchased from different supermarkets. Underneath is a price which is differentiated three ways (red is lower ability, yellow is middle ability and green is higher ability). These can be easily edited to suit the needs of your children. They can be used for addition, subtraction, worded problems and open ended real world challenges.

Counting Arrays

Counting Arrays

A set of 5 worksheets and an accompanying presentation to allow students to count arrays in a variety of ways. The emphasis is not on how many dots there are, but instead on the ways in which students 'see' the numbers (example provided). The activity is intended as a whole class discussion prompt but can be used as independent tasks as well. Designed to improve multiplicative reasoning.

More or Less- KS1 Resource Pack. To teach 1 more/1 less and 10 more/10 less.

More or Less- KS1 Resource Pack. To teach 1 more/1 less and 10 more/10 less.

Resource pack includes powerpoint with interactive 100 square to use - cover up a number(s) for them to find using 1 more/1 less facts. Little old Lady - as 'One Less Lady' and Little old man - as 'One More Man'- used whilst teaching Traditional Tales to teach more/less. Man is quite round and Lady is very slim- we linked to Gingerbread man story- the Man likes to eat the cakes she makes and says 'MORE!' then '1 More' as the lesson progresses. Vice Versa for her, shouting 'LESS!' and ' 1 Less'. Nice to do practically with biscuits. Sheets to print for use as activities to consolidate 1 more/ 1 less. 1 more/1 less spider sheets- I used to print out small laminated spiders to show it jump on one for 1 more and back 1 for 1 less- they had their own with blu tak to add onto number lines to do the same. Then introduced counting on 10 as a long way to travel in 1s, showed how the spider can travel down the drainpipe to find 10 more, and go back up to find 10 less. Differentiated worksheets with spiders included. Nice to use the spiders to make child friendly when using number lines and 100 square. Hope these will be useful :)
