German GCSE Reading Translations

German GCSE Reading Translations

UPDATED - Now with answers! If you have already downloaded this without answers, please let me know and I'll send you a copy.22-page booklet. This resource uses texts from the old specification foundation reading GCSE papers (2010-2013). It is designed to help students with their reading and translation skills. Students read the texts, then translate in the tables underneath, then complete the task which was originally on the exam papers. The sentences are divided into bitesize chunks in the tables to enable students to read and translate more easily. This is challenging for even the A*/Grade 7-9 students and makes them focus on vocabulary, sentence structure and creating 'proper' English sentences from German texts.

GERMAN GCSE SPEAKING EXAM NEW SPEC SUPPORT BOOKLET/WORKBOOK

GERMAN GCSE SPEAKING EXAM NEW SPEC SUPPORT BOOKLET/WORKBOOK

(Newly added note - I've just gone to download the booklet from school, having produced it at home, and the formatting is different, must be a different version of Word. So I've gone through again and amended. If anyone has bought this one and would like the other version, please comment and I'll send it to you. Thanks) I've used the new AQA specimen papers to create this comprehensive booklet which will support GCSE pupils in their learning for the Speaking exams. Although I've used the AQA specimen, I'm sure this would be very usable for Edexcel too. Included on here is the English and example answers for all sections - role-play, photo cards and general conversation, for both higher and foundation, plus the mark scheme and the example cards. There's also a tracker, lots of explanations and a list of high frequency words which can be used for testing. There are two sections for them to practise their own answers and they can fold the papers over for better testing. Students can pair up and take turns to be the examiner and they can check their answers with the mark scheme. I plan to give this to my year 10 class in chunks at a time, so we have continued work on one section at a time as we go through - this booklet will feature heavily in homework I set my year 10s for the next year and a half! (Could also be given as advanced prep to year 9s). This has taken an enormous amount of time so I'd appreciate any feedback. If you spot a mistake, please be gentle ;) but please let me know. I phoned up the exam board and checked that they were happy for me to do this and that I wasn't showing anything I shouldn't, and it's all fine :) Hope it's really useful!

Guided writing - Booklet for "Café in Berlin"

Guided writing - Booklet for "Café in Berlin"

This is a booklet I made for my Year 11 students to independently work with the book "Café in Berlin" at home. THe book can be bought at amazon and contains very entertaining and authentic short stories, written from the perspective of a Sicilian young man who recently moved to Germany and try to learn German. My students loved the stories and asked me to buy more of those books. The students will read the stories (one at a time) and use the booklet to write short personalised texts using the guided questions. Before writing, the students will answer the comprehension questions that come with each story in the book and they will write down a "vocabulary TOP 10" of interesting, important or new words. This booklet can be adapted to any of your needs. The guided questions can also be used as discussion questions in class after reading.I printed the file as a booklet and cut off the the bottom part of the pages to make the booklet smaller to fit into the exercise books. This is why the bottom parts are white. But you can change the layout as you wish ... add pictures or more lines for the writing parts, etc.

GERMAN SPEAKING PROMPTS (2) - 100 CARDS & REFERENCE BOOKLET

PERFECT FOR DEVELOPING SPEAKING SKILLS IN GERMAN - QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS WITH A FOCUS ON BEGINNING CONVERSATION & CULTURAL INFORMATIONTALK TIME in GERMAN, SAMMLUNG ZWEI, is a set of 100 question and answer prompt cards that give your students structured talk opportunities, and will also get them listening, reading and writing. They’re ideal for independent learning, and perfect for pair and small-group work. The prompt cards feature language and structures that your students are likely to meet in both the earlier and more intermediate stages of their GERMAN learning, and including PRESENT and PERFECT TENSE phrases, featuring both HABEN und SEIN. I've classed the resource as suitable for Grades 6-9, but it really does depend on where your students currently are in their GERMAN, and the areas they might need to focus on at specific times during the school year. The REFERENCE BOOKLET includes all the questions and answers written out in full in GERMAN.
