This popular foldable/project is a great way for them to create "snapshots" of the aspects of Andrew Jackson's presidency! Students will create a collection of snapshots from the study of the Age of Jackson. The snapshot foldable booklet will include: • Title and illustration on the cover • Three “snapshots” that must include COLORED ILLUSTRATIONS exemplifying three aspects of the Andrew Jackson's presidency • Students will write a paragraph (at least 5 sentences) next to/under each image explaining the image and details about the aspect • Illustration on the back page of your booklet that exemplifies the Age of Jackson This foldable project can be given as in an in-class assignment/assessment or a homework assignment. Andrew Jackson Document Analysis Aim: Identifying positives and negatives of Jackson's presidency FOR GOOGLE CLASSROOM Included in this resource: • Cover Page • (8) primary/secondary source documents with scaffolding questions and outside information graphic organizers • Application/Closing/Higher Order Thinking Questions Students will analyze the primary/secondary source documents that describe aspects of Andrew Jackson's presidency. Students will complete the scaffolding questions based on the documents and their knowledge of Social Studies. They will brainstorm two pieces of outside information pertaining to each document topic. Adheres to Social Studies Common Core Standards - research, application, literacy, vocabulary, analyzing primary source documents, creating arguments with evidence Differentiation: cooperative {students may work in pairs/groups according to teacher's discretion for scaffolding questions}; students argue their opinions and make predictions using relevant examples and details from the lesson and their knowledge of social studies. ★ Note - You can use this lesson as a document activity. I post the documents around the room and have the students travel in groups, OR you can use the documents for a jigsaw activity (if you're using the hard-copy version of this resource. You can assign partners if you're using the 1:1 version). *FULL LESSON* Why did Businesses Grow 1750-1900? Industrial Revolution KS3

This 60-minute lesson covers the growth of businesses and birth of towns during the Industrial Revolution. Students start by examining a piece of statistics on population growth which is supported by a list of questions to help guide their thinking. There are further activities in this lesson including: - labelling task on how towns grow (excellent as homework and perfect for low attaining students as well as SEND). Challenge questions are included to stretch the middle and high prior attaining students. - a video clip informs students about the impact of factories on towns and cities like Birmingham which is also supported a range of questions. - Card sort and/or factor activity: students read a range of cards and have to decide which factor each belongs to; - An extended writing task immediately follows the card sort/ factor activity. Many people know that 2018 is the 100th anniversary of the end of WW1 but did you know that 1918 was also the year the school leaving age was raised to 14? Of that 1818 was the birth year for Emily Bronte and Karl Marx? There are several different elements to this resource pack. Images A collection of viewable/printable resources designed to promote awareness of some events whose anniversaries fall this year. Two power point presentations (one set to run through all anniversaries, one to select years etc.) They feature over 100 separate people/events with an anniversary this year. There is also a power point with 9 ‘compilations’ of pictures from different years such as 1918 – ideal for printing out for display. There is also a set of 'who/what is it?' pictures to identify (taken from the main presentation) Activities A collection of activities/challenges designed to promote awareness of some events whose anniversaries fall this year.
