German Word Wall Cards (Deutsch Aktuell 1 vocabulary words)

German Word Wall Cards (Deutsch Aktuell 1 vocabulary words)

I created these word wall cards for my German 1 and 2 classroom. They use vocabulary words I selected from Ch. 1-12 of Deutsch Aktuell 1. (I cover chapters 1-6 in German 1, and 7-12 in German 2.) Each card includes the German word, an image, and a brief English definition. For nouns, I have also included articles and plurals. They are intended to be printed on white 8.5x11-inch paper using a color printer. Please note that I work in a small rural town in the US, so I have tried to use both pictures and definitions that my students will find easy to understand. Students and teachers who live in other areas may find some of the dialect or pictures difficult to interpret. I created these using PowerPoint and then exported them to PDF. Those original PPT files are too large to upload here, but feel free to message me if you would like me to email you the original files, so that you can edit them to substitute pictures and/or definitions that are more appropriate for your own students.

GERMAN TELLING TIME DOMINOES #1

GERMAN TELLING TIME DOMINOES #1

These telling time dominoes games are really popular with students - they’re a great alternative to more traditional ‘drilling’ activities, and help students become more independent in their learning. They’re really ideal for pair and small-group work / centers. The focus in on o’clock, half past (which can be a bit tricky in GERMAN!), quarter to and quarter past the hour. There are 3 differentiated challenges: clock times in order, with the time phrase first; clock times in topsy-turvy order, also with the time phrase first and finally, clock times in topsy-turvy order, but with the clock face first. The background design is different on each challenge, so students can easily identify which challenge they’re working on. I’ve included a reference booklet, which my students always find helpful as a ‘forever’ reference resource, and particularly when they’re learning how to tell time. There are two GERMAN-ENGLISH lists - the first with all the time phrases in order and the second corresponding to the second challenge, with all the time phrases in topsyy-turvy order. The resource consists of three, non-editable files in a zipped format: dominoes games x 3 challenge levels reference booklet Although it’s time-consuming, laminate the dominoes if you can, as they’re easier to play with, and will last for a very long time! The TERMS OF USE explain the product license: the games are copyright, and for single-teacher / purchaser / classroom use only. VIELEN DANK UND VIEL SPAß BEIM SPIELEN!
