This is a whole lesson power point where pupils talk about problems on their holidays. First they explore vocab and they practice it through a series of games and speaking activities. Then they will read an authentic trip advisor review created by me and will write a letter of complaint/ a trip advisor review. All differentiated. Pupils had so much fun talking about their disasters + they loved complaining!

This is a whole lesson power point to be used together with my other resource called "Wie bist du gefahren? (2)- Stimmt 2 unit 1 (Ich liebe Ferien) to occupy 2 lessons on past tense with "sein". In this lesson pupils will be able to explore vocab to say where they went on holidays, how they travelled there and how long they stayed. There is a cards game going with transport vocab which offers great room for differentiation. Then they practise past tense with "sein" and create interviews to their VIPS about their holidays.

Transport: German Vocabulary Card Sort

This is a card sort to help students learn words related to transport (30 words in total). This would be a useful task with younger groups or low ability groups. There are three separate files, depending on how you want to present the task. - The 'teacher copy' shows a grid with all items already matched. - The 'student version' is a random layout, print this out and give to students. They can then cut out the items and match them, or stick them into their workbooks. - The 'quick cut' is designed so that you can produce 10 packs of cards quickly and easily using a guillotine. Each page has the same card 10 times over. This allows you to remove words that may not be suitable or needed.

wie bist du im Urlaub gefahren? - means of transport + past tense

Aims of the whole power point lesson is to talk about your past holiday with particular emphasis on means of transport. Pupils will memorise this first by repetition and then by a game whereby the need to ask each other "wie bist du gefahren?" ( a sort of quiz trade). The vocab offers an occasion to think about different ways to translate "I went" in German (gefahren, gegangen, geflogen) as a grammar point. The lesson will end with an activity whereby pupils will imagine being a famous person who is interviewed to talk about his/ her last holiday!

die Unterkunft- accommodation STIMMT 2/ ECHO 2

Pupils will explore vocab related to accommodation firstly by repetition, then with some funny activities aimed at using the vocab in context and using maximum T.L. (ex: wo kann man das Etagenbett finden? --> In einer Jugendherberge etc...). Then it puts the vocab in relation to the past tense and all of this leads to a differentiated translation group race where pupils use prior knowledge of set past tense phrases (ex: ich bin nach Spanien gefahren, das Wetter war warm, Ich habe Fussball gespielt etc...). This can be made into a competition between groups, kids like it!
