The News Quiz 18th - 25th September 2017 Form Tutor Time Topical Events Activity Settler Starter

13 topical questions of the past week's news, across the UK and the world. Powerpoint so can be used on a standard whiteboard. Includes 2 literacy and 1 numeracy questions based on the other questions. Works well as a form group activity in registration time. I give sweets/reward points to the winning group! (We're not supposed to give out sweets so it's a nice 'naughty' reward for knowing about the world this week!) Created 38 school weeks of the year and uploaded to TES most weeks.

Black History Month, Citizenship and PSHE

Black History Month, Citizenship and PSHE

This is an ideal bundle for a colourful celebration of Black History Month for Key Stage 3 and 4 students. Silhouettes of a Treasured Heritage was recommended by the QCA as a critical text for the teaching of modern British multi-ethnic history. Triumph of the Water Lily has been described by Kirkus Review as a transporting text that vividly describes the culture of modern middle class Nigerians and the important rite of passage associated with African courtship and a traditional Nigerian wedding . Kadeja the Fulani Pearl Queen, is a haunting tale about an African princess who was captured by slave raiders as she travelled through the African rainforest to be reunited with her betrothed, the heir of the Ashanti throne.

Wh- question board game (around the home)

Wh- question board game (around the home)

Simple dice board game with a wh- question on each square to encourage speech, conversation and understanding of question types. The theme of this game is 'around the home' which means a lot of the answers will be individual, therefore there is not a right or wrong answer. Great ice breaker game or speech and language activity.

Australian General Knowledge Fact Jeopardy Quiz

Australian General Knowledge Fact Jeopardy Quiz

This fun and engaging Jeopardy Style Game is the perfect way to bond with your class and learn about Australia. I typically put the class into small groups and ask a member of the group to choose a color and number. That is the question that they have to answer. If correct they get one point. Then I move to the next group. Alternatively the whole class answers and then we tally up the points to get a winner. I run it on an interactive whiteboard but would be equally successful on a projector, computer or TV screen. Alternatively it could be run for an individual student on their own device. When you start the game press the shuffle button to randomize the questions ensuring that no game is ever the same. This means that this Jeopardy game can be used multiple times with the one class as it is different every time. This is a PowerPoint Macro Show. To run the game double click the file and make sure you say "yes" to running macros. If you do not the questions will not shuffle correctly. I have tested on a PC but it should work on other devices. If this is your first time with Macros let me know by personal message and I am happy to answer all your questions. Enjoy

Rooms of the House Category Sorting Cards

Rooms of the House Category Sorting Cards

This resource contains 8 different rooms for students to match the appropriate furniture/object images into. The rooms included are: ♦ Bedroom ♦ Bathroom ♦ Dining Room ♦ Garage ♦ Kitchen ♦ Living Room ♦ Office ♦ Yard If you have any recommendations for any additional sorting pages you would like added please don't hesitate to contact me. There are 6 items to match for each card. I recommend laminating each of the individual parts so that they will be stronger, longer lasting and re-usable. This resource is a great way for students to work on their sorting and categorising / categorizing skills. They are used with an Autism Classroom on a regular basis which have really helped to develop the children's understanding. As well as suiting an Autism Classroom, this resource would also benefit Spec Ed Classrooms and even Mainstream Classrooms.
