20 x Famous Novels Wordsearches English Literature Starter Settler Cover Wordsearch World Book Day

20 x Famous Novels Wordsearches English Literature Starter Settler Cover Wordsearch World Book Day

20 x Wordsearches on the theme of ‘Famous Novels’. 1984 by George Orwell Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl The Fault In Our Stars by John Green Frankenstein by Mary Shelley Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte Moby Dick by Herman Melville The Old Curiosity Shop by Charles Dickens Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens Peter Pan by JM Barrie Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle The Tale of Jeremy Fisher by Beatrix Potter Tarzan by Edgar Rice Burroughs The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas Watership Down by Richard Adams The Wizard of Oz by Frank L Baum Powerpoint so can be used on the board or printed as a worksheet. Includes space for students to explain the keywords and suggested extension activities. Can take 10 minutes or an hour, depending on which activities the students complete. Ideal for the start of a lesson, a quick filler, a homework, part of a cover lesson or as a plenary on the board with a whiteboard pen. The idea behind these is to get students to become more literate and think independently about the words that could be used to describe the topic being taught. The repetition of the word over and over as they look for the word is useful in remembering the terms. Often the students will pick up on things that you would not normally expect!

Bucket Filler 20 minute class assembly about kindness and caring based on the book by Carol McCloud

Bucket Filler 20 minute class assembly about kindness and caring based on the book by Carol McCloud

Did you know that everyone carries an invisible bucket that can be filled by doing kind things? This 20 minute assembly is based on the book ‘have you filled a bucket today?’ by Carol McCloud (an amazing book that I would recommend to any teacher). There are enough short speaking parts for a class of 30+ and the script is fully editable. Your children will introduce the concept of bucket filling and dipping to their audience. Through short drama pieces, they will demonstrate the benefits of bucket filling and the negative impact of bucket dipping. So, ask yourself, have you filled a bucket today?

Easter Legend (includes a colouring booklet)

Easter Legend (includes a colouring booklet)

The resource includes a 23 slides presentation based on the Easter Rabbit German legend and a colouring booklet. In the presentation Easter is already a religious holiday celebrated by the characters of the story, so this legend can be very useful as an extension to the traditional stories for Easter. The presentation is fully customisable, so is easy to reduce the language level or to add comprehension questions at the end. The legend creates a link between the two main symbols of Easter: the rabbit and the eggs. Enjoy!

Pancake Day: Shrove Tuesday

Pancake Day: Shrove Tuesday

This fun and engaging teaching resource is perfect for Pancake Day! An eye-catching presentation answers a series of questions, such as what Pancake Tuesday is and why we make pancakes on that day. The presentation continues with a pancake recipe, a closer look at pancake toppings, Pancake Day around the world (which could be researched further) and the tradition of pancake racing. The presentation has been saved as a show, so that nothing can be accidentally deleted. Some sections require clicking to progress the show - it is set this way so that the teacher can pause and discuss if required. A quick run through beforehand will highlight these areas.
