Tourist Bureau-City Tour Project

Tourist Bureau-City Tour Project

Students of foreign language will work in groups to create a four-day city tour. They will choose a city, use the internet to gather current information, write to a city tourist bureau, call ADAC, find overnight and restaurant accomodations, create a tour poster and mini-souvenirs, and finally present (in the target language) their tour at a city tour festival. I created the project for German second year students, but it could be adapted to any foreign language, grade level, or country (rather than city) focus.

Modelling a community

Modelling a community

It can be difficult to find creative activites for your lessons that also tick off other areas of the curriculum. This activity gives you an excitingly visual way of developing an understanding of different communities around the world, and the ways they are similar or different. Pupils make maps of the community where they live and then look at community maps made by children in Cuba and Peru. This gives pupils a deeper understanding of children in different communities while encouraging them to be creative.
