World Cup Geography Skills Lesson

World Cup Geography Skills Lesson

To embrace the World Cup 2018, this document is to get the students to think about where the players in the England team play when they at home but also to improve Geographical skills that can be used later in their education. There are a series of tasks to get the student to improve how they use an Atlas, then improving statistical skills (mean, median, mode and range), creating bar and scatter graphs and then going back to the Atlas to find out about the teams that were in the quarter-finals of the 2018 World Cup. This is great for students in Year 7 to 9 and is a great opportunity for a display. With Year 7-8 students work in pairs, Year 9 are able to this by themselves. I would really appreciate feedback on this resource as it is the first one I have uploaded. Also I would like to know if people have adapted or included anything else! Thank you

OUP Geog.1 Year 7 Summer Homework

OUP Geog.1 Year 7 Summer Homework

This is a booklet is based on the Michelin i-Spy books. Students get points for spotting things in and around their homes and beyond. It covers all the chapters from the geog.1 textbook from OUP, and is designed to be a homework project for students to complete during the summer holidays. For each item they find they get points and these points lead to house points, merits, credits, stars (whichever reward system your school uses): I even give students a certificate for completing it. There are 20 pages which can be printed as an A5 booklet or you can choose which pages you want to use as each chapter from the textbook has a set of activities: my version has 16 pages based on the chapters I covered and some extra puzzle pages as well. There is a word puzzle and a place for the students to keep a record of their points as they collect them, there is a place for parents to sign confirmation that students actually did achieve what they say just in case you get a student that makes it up. There are spaces for images, due to copyright I have removed the pictures that I use, but they can easily by added.
