KS3 History Assessment:The Treaty of Versailles was the important reason WW2 broke out?

KS3 History Assessment:The Treaty of Versailles was the important reason WW2 broke out?

For teachers delivering Key Stage three history. This is an assessment for the question: ‘The Treaty of Versailles was the most important reason the Second World War broke out.’ How far do you agree with this statement? It uses a question stem from the new Edexcel GCSE 9-1 course to help prepare students. It also includes a help sheet for the students including structure and key words as well as a mark sheet for the teacher. This is in line with the old National Curriculum levels, but it is easily adaptable for individual needs for life after levels!

Revision Plan New OCR Explaining the Modern World History A.

Revision Plan New OCR Explaining the Modern World History A.

This is a brilliant guide to help students prioritise and conduct their own independent revision for their GCSE. This gives a break down of OCR's Explaining the Modern World History A, with the Depth study of USA 1945-1975 and Personal rule of Charles I, plus War and Society and the castle study of Framlingham castle. This document can of course be adapted to fit the various other OCR modules, as and where relevant. As the new course requires so much content, we have chosen to give this to our yr 11 at the start of the year to help them build up a bank of resources in preparation for the exams in the summer. The chart allows students to complete the chart to show how confident they are with certain topics, and allows them to go back and reflect on specific areas. The aim is for them to get to point (hopefully by May) where they can happily complete the green smiley face for all of the sections; showing that they are confident with all the content for the GCSE!

Conflict and Tension (or Cooperation) 1918-1939 Timeline

Conflict and Tension (or Cooperation) 1918-1939 Timeline

This is a great timeline to use in the classroom or for display in the department. I have mine now displayed in the classroom so I can refer to it as I am teaching the GCSE 1-9 course. The students have a visible chronology of the peoples and events that influenced and shaped Europe before 1939 with the successes and failures of the League of Nations. It really clarifies the subject content for them and each of the 41 slides has an accompanying picture and commentary on the side. Many of my students have already downloaded and downsized the slides to aid them in their revision at home.

This resource covers the years 1930-45 for AQA's AB Germany, 1890–1945: Democracy and dictatorship. It includes all major (and most of the minor) points on Nazi Germany and is really useful for revision, note making and homeworks. Feel free to edit as it is quite large and only suitable for students working at a high level of literacy.
