French: Directions in town

French: Directions in town

I made this resource to support learners' asking for and giving directions in French. Town Plan A and Town Plan B are opposites (A misses the information that B has and vice versa). Learners must take turns to ask for directions to the places listed on the bottom right of their respective sheets. In this way they exchange the information and complete their maps. Finally, learners compare their maps to check that they are the same. All is supported with a PowerPoint presentation and a key with the full plan.

Ma ville autrefois

Ma ville autrefois

Reading comprehension worksheet with vocabulary finder task and comprehension questions. Pupils can also texts as models for their own responses, which are ideal for GCSE speaking and writing preparation. The sentence building task is using phrases and ideas from the reading comprehension worksheet and along with the support column, pupils translate the English sentences into French to form an extended paragraph about how a town used to be.

At home - Extended booklet

At home - Extended booklet

I created this resource for 3 of my year 10s who are much more advanced than the rest of the class. It is designed so that students can work independently and introduces new vocabulary and grammar, but also includes a reading comprehension task and some opportunities for speaking. This should represent about 7 or 8 hours of work for a student, providing they take the time to learn the vocabulary, take notes and practise the grammar. This is also ideal to set as cover and it can be given to students up to year 12 as thorough revision. I have also included an answer sheet for all the activities.

This is a 25% sample of my very popular resource. The full resource can be found by searching for '300 generic lesson activities'. (Following its success in the summer sale, I have kept the sale price of £3). The description for the full file is as follows: Create lessons in seconds with this HUGE PowerPoint of animated lesson activities. There are HUNDREDS of templates that you can over-type in seconds to create engaging lesson material. Highly praised by John Simpkin of Spartacus Educational and Mark Warner of Teaching Ideas. I am very confident you will like this. If you do, please click on my profile to see my other popular resources. Thanks (This file also has a bank of PowerPoint timers) The size of the file should show you how much stuff there is! Without sounding overly confident - it's the best resource out there! French Direction Lesson + Booklet (no prep) / Les directions en français leçon + activité.

French Direction Lesson + Booklet (no prep) / Les directions en français leçon + activité.

Bonjour à tous, Here is a powerpoint with 26 colourful slides + the activity booklet of 8 pages about giving directions and asking for directions in town for beginners. It contains - a recap slide where students need to check what they already know - a self-target setting slide - 2 starters activities: criss cross puzzle with places in town/speaking activity to recap "il y a" - an introduction to new vocabulary - games for drilling (dictionary contest, matching up) - conversations with maps - a grammar point about the imperative and a practice - a filling gap text - unscrambling the sentences - noughts and crosses as plenary - a detailed review of objectives I usually use it after a powerpoint about places in town. I also have them to do a tour in the school by using the direction and it is actually quite fun! I hope you will like it! Enjoy!

100 words you should know

100 words you should know

A great activity for the end of the first year of teaching of French covering a variety of basic topics but focusing mainly on sound-spelling and reading skills. Pupils have the chance to read aloud, practise phonics and apply them to a text with some unfamiliar words. Plenty of competition elements. A plan outlining the lesson run is attached. Students can also use the grid of 100 words as homework translations and then try to build sentences using as many of the words as they can.
