Speaking Test - Revision Wheel - Identity and Culture

Speaking Test - Revision Wheel - Identity and Culture

An adaptable resource to enable students to prepare for the question and answer element of the speaking test. Students prepare answers on the wheel. There is a sheet of vocabulary and phrases to help them. The wheel is best printed out on A3 paper to give students ample space to write their responses. It also works best if the students colour-code their responses to match the colour of the question. Teachers can change the questions easily electronically if they prefer to use different questions. At the end of the Technology document there is a photograph example of a completed wheel to share with students by means of an explanation. More themes to follow.

Double Worksheet-Where do you live and where do you come from

Double Worksheet-Where do you live and where do you come from

Used after having introduced " Wohnen" and practiced types of accommodation and areas of living (auf dem Land, an der Küste, etc.) . This worksheet requires an eye for detail and relies on pupils using their other notes for reference. Pupils can tackle these on their own or in pairs (by way of differentiation) It also revisits pets and members of the family. It also practises "kommen aus", since several of my students live in one country, but come from another one.

German GCSE Speaking - General Conversation - Theme 1- Differentiated Questions and answers

German GCSE Speaking - General Conversation - Theme 1- Differentiated Questions and answers

This resource is an example of the General Conversation at GCSE for theme 1. This book is ideal to show students what is expected of them in the General Conversation. Information and questions are colour-coded for foundation and higher level students. Key questions (those using tenses) are starred so that students know which questions they must learn to maximise their marks. The chilli icon is used to document challenge questions, for those students attempting to secure higher level grades such as grade 9. Some questions are multiple-choice, so that questions can be tailored to students' personalities, circumstances and abilities. There are two answer booklets attached, showing students the type of vocabulary needed in each answer. One booklet is for lower prior attainers (Foundation) and is 9 pages long. The other booklet is for higher prior attainers (Higher) and is 11 pages long. The resource also contains a revision activity to help with this. Students practice their speaking by playing expression bingo - students have two minutes and are peer-assessed, to see how many of the sentence starters on theme 1 they can use!

Challenge Cards - German - Meine Familie - Aiming for 5 or 8

This document consists of 6 x aiming for 8 challenge cards and 3 x aiming for grade 5 challenge cards. Students get a challenge question on the topic of 'Meine Familie' and must prepare an answer to the question, paying attention to the specific success criteria provided. Typically, I give students one of these as they enter the door and they answer the register with their answer. They add any improvements in green pen.
