KS4 GCSE Dance Revision – Component 2: Choreographic Devices and Intent within the Anthology

KS4 GCSE Dance Revision – Component 2: Choreographic Devices and Intent within the Anthology

This resource has been designed for teachers of GCSE dance revising choreographic devices and choreographic intent within the anthology, in preparation for the written exam. This lesson has been created to provide a way for dance students to revise in a fun and interactive way. Prior to the lesson, decide how you are going to divide your class into 6 groups (ideally a mixture of high and low ability in each group). After the starter activity on the PowerPoint sit pupils in their groups and give them the QR code for their anthology set work for them to watch (on their phones or on iPads) and write notes about the choreographic devices that they see. Discuss with each group how the choreographic devices relates to the choreographic intent of the piece. After the discussion, give each group their exam question handout and allow pupils to answer the 2 questions (using their notes to help them).

KS4 GCSE Dance Revision – Component 2: Choreography

This resource has been designed for teachers of GCSE dance revising choreography in preparation for the written exam. This lesson has been created to provide a way for dance students to revise in a fun and interactive way. Prior to the lesson, decide how you are going to divide your class into 6 groups (ideally a mixture of high and low ability in each group). After the starter activity on the PowerPoint give each group one of the texts as a stimulus. As a group, pupils can discuss how the text can be used to create choreography in relation to each of the questions on the PowerPoint (I allowed around 3 min per slide). Encourage pupils to write notes on the sheet with the text on as these can be used as posters in the classroom and/or be photocopied and given to all students for further revision. After pupils have completed notes for each of the questions, give pupils a copy of the questions as a mock test and allow pupils 20 min to complete the test using their text as their stimulus. Within this resource I have included the notes that my pupils made as an example.

KS4 AQA GCSE Dance Revision – Component 2: Section C

KS4 AQA GCSE Dance Revision – Component 2: Section C This resource has been designed for teachers of GCSE dance revising the dance anthology in preparation for the written exam. This lesson has been created to provide a way for dance students to revise in a fun and interactive way. Prior to the lesson, decide how you are going to divide your class into 6 groups (ideally a mixture of high and low ability in each group). Each group should be given a large piece of paper with one of the 6 dance anthology pieces written in the middle, then use the PowerPoint. I spent approximately 5 min per slide and got the pupils to rotate around the room rather than the paper. You will need the six anthology fact files found on the AQA GCSE Dance website for the latter part of the lesson. Once the lesson is complete you will have revision display posters created by the dance pupils themselves.

KS3 Dance ‘Hairspray’ 6 lesson SOW delivery PowerPoint

KS3 Dance ‘Hairspray’ 6 lesson SOW delivery PowerPoint

This ‘Hairspray’ 6 lesson SOW and delivery PowerPoint is for teachers teaching dance at KS3. In the school where I teach, every year we have a Year 9 musical (this year was Hairspray) and all the Year 8 pupils watch during a matinee performance. This SOW has been created for my Year 8 pupils after they have watched our Year 9 performance of Hairspray. The delivery PowerPoint includes questions which refer to the performance that they have watched and the whole point of the SOW is for them to learn the finale dance ‘You can’t Stop the Beat’. You may be thinking, ‘What am I going to do with this resource?’. Well, you’re going to need to adapt it to suit you yes but it will work in a variety of ways. First of all, it can be used as a tutorial of how to turn a series of rehearsals into a series of lessons (learning other key dance skills and terminology in the process). You could use It as a guide to create your own SOW for whatever musical your school has just put on or simply show a YouTube clip of a live performance of ‘You Can’t Stop The Beat’. We haven’t chosen next years musical yet but I will be using this SOL and will adapt it to fit. The delivery PowerPoint includes starters in the form of ‘bell activities’/‘talking points’ for each lesson, homework and assessment activities at week 3 and week 6 to record progress.

Edexcel GCSE PE Revision- Picture Analysis

Edexcel GCSE PE Revision- Picture Analysis Task This is a fantastic way to encourage students to think outside of the box and for themselves! It is very much student led - students look at a variety of different pictures and relate topics to each one and write down relevant information, it is a fantastic way for students to then discuss their thoughts with each other by discussing topics which they think relate to each image. I usually print these off in A3 and encourage students to discuss the topics between themselves.

PE NEW KS3 TRACKER LINKED TO NEW GCSE PE

PE NEW KS3 TRACKER LINKED TO NEW GCSE PE

PE NEW KS3 TRACKER LINKED TO NEW GCSE PE This tracker allows you to track progress through KS3 using 1-9 with fine grades. What is really useful about this tracker is that you can use it to help decide if students are suitable for the new GCSE structure. This tracker is linked to the new AQA GCSE course but could be adapted for other exam boards. My school uses STEPS which are the same as 1-9 fine grading. The tracker converts each step fine grade to a percentage so when you enter the students step it will convert this to a percentage. For the theory section it will convert marks out of 100% to a grade out of 5% for each of the four theory tests. The tracker deals with two year groups from KS3. So if your school has a 2 year KS3 it is already set up for Year 7 and 8. If you have a three year KS3 then track through Year 8 and 9. The AQA GCSE requires students to use 3 sports (1 individual and 2 team or 2 individual and 1 team). The tracker will select the best two team and best two individual sports. Each sport has a 20% weighting on the tracker. This gives you a total of 80%. The tracker allows for 20% theory tests broken down into 4 tests over two years each weighted at 5%. There is also room to track activities that you may do that are not available for assessment at GCSE level. This part of the tracker has no percentage weighting. The idea behind this tracker is you will be able to identify early the 3 most likely best sports and which students are most likely able to cope with the theory side of the course. If you purchase this tracker feel free to adapt it to suit your department needs. My department finds this invaluable and uses it to inform senior management, parents at parents evening/options evening and to have really useful informed conversations with students about progress and suitability for PE courses.
