My Vegan Child - A Resource for Educators

My Vegan Child - A Resource for Educators

My Vegan Child is a free online resource for parents, teachers and caregivers of vegan children. The booklet was created in collaboration with a group of vegan parents and educators. We wanted to communicate in a way that would inform our children’s teachers on veganism and to navigate potential sensitive areas such as food, nutrition and animal welfare. With more and more families becoming vegan, it is important that educators and carers gain an insight into the perspective of the vegan children they teach. Veganism is much more than just a diet. The information provided both in the booklet, and on this website, will help create a more inclusive learning environment for vegan children, as well as ideas and links for including humane education in teaching programs for all. Printing Info: Open pdf file in Adobe Acrobat Reader (download Adobe for free here). Choose print, then select ‘booklet’ as an option.

Revision advice booklet

Revision advice booklet

A booklet aimed at Y11 but appropriate to students in any key stage that discusses what makes effective revision and why. (I have also used this with Y12 and Y13) Students are guided through a process of organising and prioritising their subjects/topics before they are introduced to the strategies that are most effective methods of revision and why (research supported) It ends with a copy of the GCSE Edexcel Psychology specification for students to use to RAG rate and create their priority list. This could quite easily be adapted for any specification of any subject.

Creative Writing Resource: Shared Writing Lesson

Creative Writing Resource: Shared Writing Lesson

This is a customisable resource for English designed to get the creative juices flowing. A list of random words (choice of 2 - 5) is generated and pupils are challenged to come up with ways of including all of them in a piece of collaborative writing. As the class comes up with ideas, the teacher records them by typing on the onscreen board. The work can be saved at the end of the session. If pupils are not used to this kind of exercise, I suggest beginning with the 2 word sentence option. Challenge them to make sentences that make links between the words. You can move on to the other options in the menu as they become more confident… Although designed for use in English classes, this resource can easily be adapted for other subjects and for whole school sessions like assemblies. It is great for CPD too (safeguarding training, for instance). The PowerPoint file is stored in a folder with a text file named ‘words’. By replacing the words on this list by your own, the words generated on the screen can be related to any topic you like. Make sure that you keep the text file and the PowerPoint file together, however, or the nothing work. I have included a separate folder with three extra word lists (summer, adjectives, and synonyms for ‘said’). If you decide to use them, you need to rename them as ‘words’ and swap them with the original file in the main folder. You need to enable macros on your computer to use the resource, otherwise nothing will happen!

All 10 lesson packs are complete with at least one hour-long powerpoint, accompanying differentiated worksheets, clip links with questions, plenaries, clear LOs and starters. All are well differentiated to three levels throughout to enable clear evidence of progress for all students. These lessons have been selected to be in this bundle as they all heavily foster a sense of morality and building good, positive character traits in students. These resources have been highly-rated individually by TES users, follow the same consistent format and are easy to follow. There is zero extra work required, and the whole bundle follows PSHE Association topic recommendations. I use all of these myself as a Head of PSHE and Citizenship and I really hope you find them excellent value.
