World Map & French Geography

World Map & French Geography

Designed with Smartboard Notebook software, this lesson is hands-on for students to aptly locate french speaking nations from around the world. Students simply point (click) and drag country name to place on map. Lesson can be modified to have students generate names of countries and then call on a classmate to place them geographically. Easily adaptable for other uses.

rugby world cup 2007 draw

a powerpoint lottery - you just need to change the names of the pupils - powerpoint goes on to explain that each child ‘supports’ the country they have just ‘drawn’ and has to report back on their match (could be as simple as give the score/result in French). First ‘try’ to be converted by each child is locate and mark the country on an atlas. This could be in any/many languages or in English if you were doing it from a geography/citizenship slant.

Halloween map on Smart (IWB) Notebook

Halloween map on Smart (IWB) Notebook

IWB notebook file with a map of a town (but spooky) and you can move Frankenstein around the map according to the directions given to you by the class. I planned it for use in a French lesson and have provided vocabulary list in French, but you can use it without adapting it in any language. (Instructions/ideas in English at start)

MFL, ICT Writing Activity: Chain Story

MFL, ICT Writing Activity: Chain Story

I covered a Year 9 ICT Lesson and this was the activity so I thought why not use in MFL! The mixed ability group were all engaged. Thought it would work well for talking about Holidays, daily Routine or maybe arranging to go out Conversation.

Word processing for learners of French

'à vos claviers!' is a sequence of lessons designed to fill a perceived gap in ICT provision for MFL learners, namely keyboarding and making, with the aid of a word processing package. The broken link to this resource has been fixed.

Using ICT and MFL podcast (part two)

This is the second part of the podcast I made with my pupils from Nodehill Middle School on the Isle of Wight as described in my TES ICT blog post ‘Using ICT & Modern Foreign Languages: Using podcasts in the classroom’ The podcast has been divided into two parts due to the 10MB limit on the Resources Bank. You can however download the complete podcast from my blog www.joedale.typepad.com Happy listening!
