SPANISH FOR CHILDREN - 80 ANIMALS GAMES CARDS & REFERENCE SHEET

PERFECT FOR DEVELOPING LANGUAGE SKILLS AND LEARNING ANIMALS IN SPANISH! SPANISHANIMALS GAMES CARDS are perfect for young learners of SPANISH. They provide lots of opportunities to learn a range of animals, both masculine and feminine, and really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Children can develop their skills in word recognition and recall, pronunciation, speaking, listening and reading in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They’re a great way of introducing the concept of gender, and of looking at the indefinite article in SPANISH too. It doesn’t matter is any of the animals don’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the card games encourage children to engage happily and confidently with SPANISH, to identify cognates and to begin to link spelling with sound in SPANISH. They also help learners begin to work out the meaning of unknown words using both visual clues and prompts, as well as linguistic ones. Along the way, children may even get to know some new animals! There are 80 CARDS in total, which include 2 DECKS of 40 CARDS to enable you to vary and differentiate your games: DECK 1: matching SPANISH & ENGLISH cards, with both the picture and the word. The ENGLISH cards have a different frame, with blackline pictures. To keep costs down, simply print all the cards using just black ink. DECK 2: this pack features word-only cards in SPANISH, with a matching set of picture-only cards. This is really useful for a focus on word recognition and recall in FRENCH. I’ve included a word & picture reference sheet for children to read through before they play. The sheet can be shared between small groups of children, or distributed individually for children to file in their workbooks or learning folders for future reference. Play the games regularly for maximum benefit - they’re always really popular with young learners of SPANISH! Playing against a timer adds some extra fun - can children beat their own time record? SPANISH EUROPEAN COUNTRIES, CAPITAL CITIES & FLAGS POSTERS - ¡EN ESPAÑOL!

CREATE AN INSTANT AND COMPREHENSIVE INTRODUCTION TO EUROPE IN YOUR CLASSROOM WITH 70 POSTERS FEATURING COUNTRIES, CAPITAL CITIES & FLAGS - PERFECT FOR READING, SPEAKING AND PRONUNCIATION PROMPTS IN SPANISH TOO! Give your students an everyday opportunity to develop their skills in SPANISH and create an instant introduction to EUROPE at the same time! These posters showing EUROPEAN countries, capital cities and flags really do brighten up your learning environment. They give your classroom a great multicultural look and feel, at the same time promoting SPANISH as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of your classroom. There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the posters help them develop their general awareness, knowledge and understanding of EUROPE and its geography. I’ve also included a range of islands, such as the Faroe Islands, to extend students’ knowledge of EUROPE a little further, as well as several countries, for example Armenia, that are often classed as belonging either to EUROPE or to ASIA. I’ve also included two posters for some countries, such as BELARUS, officially known as the República de Belarús, but also frequently referred to as Bielorrusia in SPANISH - you can choose which one you prefer to display. The posters look great displayed horizontally across a particular learning area - alphabetically works well, though non-alphabetically is perfect for a country quest activity! The resource consists of a single, non-editable file. Please read the Terms of Use carefully - the resource is copyright, and for single-teacher/purchaser use only. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y BUEN VIAJE!

KS3 Spanish Cover Lesson Design your own City

KS3 Spanish Cover Lesson Design your own City

Lesson Covers: How to describe your city (imaginary!) - what's in it and what it has e.g. my city has a king, watchtowers, walls and a dragon. This works best as a cover lesson. It is easy for non-specialists to follow but supports and challenges KS3 students of Spanish well. Could also be adapted for use in lessons by specialists in order to revise 'what's in one's city / town'. It is helpful, but not necessary, if the students have some knowledge of connectives, adjectives and SER / TENER in Spanish. Important key words are provided in each activity of lesson. Dictionaries needed. Lesson involves: Differentiated objectives and starter (quick translation) activity. Activity 1: Teams work to look up words (in Spanish) used to describe what's in a city e.g. murallas, atalayas etc. Next slide gives answers to students so they can write down whatever they were unable to find. Activity 2: Differentiated translation task using key vocabulary they have just looked up in teams. Key words provided as well as higher challenge. Next slide contains answers for peer / self-assessment. Main and final activity: students design and label their own city using key words / sentences they have been working on throughout lesson. Again, this is differentiated by task with key works provided on ppt. Bubble snake review to finish.

Spanish 2 thematic unit: Peruanos chinos, una historia desconocida

Spanish 2 thematic unit: Peruanos chinos, una historia desconocida

Did you know that Peru has a very large Asian population? Did you know that in the 19th century 100,000 Chinese contract laborers came to Peru? Did you know that no women were allowed? Did you know that the Peruvian government then closed the borders for over thirty years? The Chinese laborers married local women, became first small business owners and then prospered and became professionals. They integrated into Peruvian society and today play a very important role. In these uncertain times where people are being targeted because of their faith or the color of their skin, I have gone back to the 19th century and written a very positive text. Racism vanquished. If we can teach openness to the ´Other´ perhaps we can go forward! This is my small contribution. So, here is a thematic unit called Peruanos chinos, una historia desconocida, 12 pages. For Spanish 2 at the high school level. Many past tenses. The unit Includes a reading, comprehension exercise, grammar extension based on factual information, oral work, written assignment with comparisons to other Chinese immigrant experiences, a large number of key words to do further research, questions for a model test, teacher´s guide with further information and an answer key.
