A Level worksheet: Symmetry properties of trigonometric functions

A Level worksheet: Symmetry properties of trigonometric functions

This worksheet assesses learning with respect to the Periodic, Odd, Even and Translation properties of trigonometric functions. These are not demonstrated in the worksheet but are listed at the beginning along with some exact values (e.g. cos(30°)=√3/2, cos(60°)=1/2, etc) which are used in the exercises, of which there are fifteen. Five fully-worked examples are included to show how the symmetry properties are used. Students will need a knowledge of reciprocal functions (csc, sec, cot) as the last couple of exercises are based on those functions. An answer sheet is provided at the end of the worksheet. The more complex exercises are fully worked to show how the answers are arrived at. I've also created some graph data files which can be used to visually demonstrate the symmetry properties but, unfortunately, the file type is not supported on here so I couldn't upload them. The software to run these files is called Graph and is open source. It's a native Windows application but can be ran on an Apple Mac using Wine. I've used the software for years and is adware and virus free. The cover image for this resource was created directly from Graph. If you would like me to send you the data files then email me at kevin_alderson@yahoo.co.uk. The Graph software can be found at http://www.padowan.dk/ Word and PDF versions of the worksheet provided.

IAL C34 Specimen Paper - without space

IAL C34 Specimen Paper - without space

This is the IAL C34 Specimen Question Paper (free sample). Only questions appear in the document without any written space. I have written the paper using LaTeX ( a high quality typesetting document preparation system) and compiled to get the PDF output. Teachers and tutors can now easily save paper and print the question paper for exam practice and revision purposes of their students. The omission of writing space is a huge advantage in saving ink and paper, because original papers comes with a lot of empty space for the answer. The LaTeX written paper have all the math beautifully formatted and typeset even to the minor details. The question paper comes with a cover page for reference. Teachers can opt out this page if necessary when giving for print. Mark scheme is attached. NB: Here is a link to my store @TpT: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Smart-A-Level-Math

Geometry: Radians 2 - Arcs, Sectors and Segments (+ resources)

Geometry: Radians 2 - Arcs, Sectors and Segments (+ resources)

This whole lesson builds on the introduction to the topic of radians. It looks at where the different formulas come from in radians and how to use them with some excellent examples and teaching slides. It comes also with a great starter, plenary, lesson objectives and key words. I have also included some exam questions with answers, a handout of useful angles to remember and a help sheet on mark scheme jargon to help build pupils understanding of exam papers. I recommend buying this with the first lesson as they fit together to teach pupils everything needed for AS level maths. NOTE: Feel free to browse my shop for more excellent free and premium resources and as always please rate and feedback, thanks.

Geometry: Radians - An Introduction (+ worksheet)

Geometry: Radians - An Introduction (+ worksheet)

I normally start off looking at radians after I have taught trigonometric graphs, but before teaching trig equations and identities. This is an introduction to radians and covers very clearly what radians are, with plenty of custom animation on 5/6 slides to explain in detail. In then looks at converting degrees into radians and vice versa with plenty of excellent teaching slides and activities to assess understanding. I have also included an excellent worksheet with answers contained. The lesson also includes a starter, plenary and learning objectives. This lesson then leads onto a second lesson on radians, which I also recommend purchasing. Geometry: Trigonometry 12 - Trig Identities (+ Exam Questions)

Geometry: Trigonometry 12 - Trig Identities (+ Exam Questions)

This is a whole lesson on trigonometric identities. This builds on the previous lesson on trig equations to add in the extra teaching and detail needed at AS Level mathematics. This lesson has a starter, learning objectives, loads of excellent teaching slides, examples and plenary. It also comes with exam questions that I normally use, so that pupils start to become familiar with exam style questions. It also comes with the answers (detailed mark scheme) and a handout of mark scheme jargon. This is an opportunity for pupils to become offay with mark scheme and how to interpret them, which will help them to maximize their marks in exams. This lesson does come as a wider series/ bundle on trigonometry and is available as such at a discounted average price. I highly recommend it as a series as each lesson does naturally build on the lesson before and does form an excellent sequence of lessons. NOTE: Feel free to browse my shop for more excellent free and premium resources and as always please rate and feedback, thanks.

Geometry: Trigonometry 11 - Trig Equations Introduction (+ worksheet)

This is an introduction to trig equations, which builds on previous lessons on radians, trig graphs and basic soh cah toa lessons. This lesson comes with a starter, learning objectives, plenty of excellent teaching examples as well as a worksheet with answers and plenary. This lesson comes in a much bigger sequence or series of lessons and I highly recommend getting this as a bundle.
