Visual Timetable / Daily Timetable

Visual Timetable / Daily Timetable

This is a visual daily timetable of some common subjects. Can be edited for any stage/curriculum. Visual supports can help to provide structure and routine, encourage independence, build confidence, improve understanding, avoid frustration and anxiety, and provide opportunities to interact with others. They can make communication physical and consistent, rather than fleeting and inconsistent like spoken words can be.

Fall Build a Sentence for Speech Therapy and Special Ed

Fall Build a Sentence for Speech Therapy and Special Ed

Build a Sentence (18pages) - Autism and Special Needs, Speech therapy Forming sentences is very important for young learners or those with autism. This activity uses real-life pictures for easy recognition of common objects and sight words as sentence starters. It is perfect for early readers. This is also an activity to practice identifying the attributes of what, the number, and the color of a group of items. There are 12 groups of items. The student will match the corresponding picture to answer the questions - What? How Many? What Color? There are 2 ways to use this file: 1. Print the first 12 pages and use the pages as a “cut and paste” activity. The students will use glue to paste the correct answers where necessary. 2. Print all the pages on photo paper and laminate them. Cut out the pages containing the numbers and pictures. There are 2 pages that serve as boards for the types of answers (“what?”, “how many?”). Use Velcro on the back side of each card and in the middle of each blank square on the boards as well as on each square containing the questions. Thus the activity can be reused as many times as needed. *** Students can build 2 types of sentences: -using cards with words and hints (dots for the numers and pictures for the object words), then -using cards with only words, as shown on the title page. This is a great matching activity for K and 1st gr and for students with autism.

Intervention Sheet by @TeacherToolkit

Intervention Sheet by @TeacherToolkit

This document enables teachers to understand how support fits in with the specific area/s of SEN it is targeting. It has helped to give our interventions greater focus; I encourage teachers to look at their record sheet before each lesson as way of focusing in on the young people. It is also a beneficial tool for sharing information with senior leaders. Staff who are responsible for writing SEN Support Plans can also find it beneficial to use the information on the intervention records to add depth to their plan so that they can write about interventions they do not lead with confidence.

SEND Iceberg Analysis by @TeacherToolkit

SEND Iceberg Analysis by @TeacherToolkit

This is a great tool for using with staff as a discussion point with new learners with SEN needs. It works well in a staff meeting setting, where you can ask staff to work in pairs to brainstorm everything they know about the young person. It gets staff talking, especially if you ensure that you mix people up with someone they don’t normally work with. The benefit for the teacher is that they can then leave the meeting with their colleagues thoughts and strategies so that they can finish the SEN Support Plan. The benefit for all staff, is that they can hear how others perceive the young person.
