Self-direction through evaluation

Self-direction through evaluation

This is a professional development tool for teachers. It describes an evaluation culture that fosters the students’ sense of self-direction. This paper includes a brief introduction to the theory used (Locus of Control, Self-Efficacy and Mindset Theory), and suggests implementation in four different areas of evaluation (self-evaluation, peer-evaluation, teacher-evaluation and evaluation of one’s inner dialogue). NPQSL COMBINED TASK AND SUPPORTING EVIDENCE

I completed my NPQSL in Nov 2017 and received some great feedback. I found it extremely hard to get started after the course face to face days and searched to find a sample to give me a few pointers. I hope to be able to do the same for others!

Colouring

Colouring

Many children and adults suffer from stress and anxiety at times. An over busy brain makes it difficult to concentrate on tasks and the feelings associated with anxiety can cause distress and further anxiety. Recent research suggests that activities which focus the mind without being overly taxing can help break the cycle of worry and anxiety and can help calm the busy mind. One such activity is colouring. This resource provides 40 original hand drawn kaleidoscopic images. The repetitive nature of the patterns is intentional, encouraging the individual to settle into a calming routine. Drawings range in complexity, making it a suitable resource for all age groups, including adults. I hope that enjoyment and a sense of calm can be found by using this resource.

The 3 Wise Monkeys

The 3 Wise Monkeys

This teaching toolkit technique called “the 3 wise monkeys” has been designed based on one of my favourite proverbs “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil”. The idea is that students take on the role of the 3 monkeys: Mizaru, who sees nothing; Kikazaru, who hears nothing; and Iwazaru, who speaks nothing. It aims to promote challenge, listening skills, student interaction and peer teaching. Comes with student template to be adapted to any subject and any topic and teacher instruction sheet.

All About Doggie Language

All About Doggie Language

Hi everybody, these are some posters from Lili Chin www.doggiedrawings.net/freeposters. I thought it could be helpful to learn about how not to great a dog or show our humans something about our body language. They are pretty funny at times aren’t they? If they don’t expect their human babies to do maths at six months let’s say, what makes them think that we must understand what they want from us raising their voices or staying quiet when we are only puppies? Pretty strange isn’t it?

GROWTH MINDSET - THE THREE KEYS

GROWTH MINDSET - THE THREE KEYS

His head in his hands, Daniel grumbles, “This is too hard. I’ll find something easier to do instead.” Brimming with a determined focus, Holly whispers, “This looks really challenging. I can’t wait to get started.” Would your pupils achieve more if their mindset was like Holly’s? This PowerPoint – and supporting activity – shows the three keys to having a growth mindset by looking at three inspirational stories and what we can learn from them: David Beckham - Success comes after hard work JK Rowling - Failure is an opportunity to learn Samuel - Enjoy challenges The download includes the following: 1 x PowerPoint: Great for: * PSHE sessions * Assemblies * Tutor/Registration time Could be presented in one go or split into the three keys. Includes engaging pictures and videos to keep the attention of the class. Explains the difference between a fixed and a growth mindset. Full of inspirational and moving stories that show the possibilities created by a growth mindset. 36 slides in total . Fully ‘editable’ to suit your preferences. Note: There may be some tears. Samuel’s story, in particular, is likely to bring out some emotion, but it only adds to the impact of the message. 1 x Lesson Activity (PDF): Strengthens the messages from the ‘Three Keys’ presentation. Great for both prompting whole class discussions and for providing opportunities for extended writing. Helps pupils to apply their learning in a real-life context. Thank you I hope you enjoy using this resource.
