Australian States and Territories - word search and mapping exercise

Wordsearches (a.k.a. word maze) are a fun way for your students to learn the states and main territories of Australia. The wordsearch is coupled with a map that encourages your students not only to learn the names of the states/territories but also their location. The puzzles have three levels of difficulty: Easy - Medium - Hard. This will allow you to differentiate according to the abilities of students in your class. Each of the three puzzles has its own answer key. A large map (A4 size) is also provided in the file should you need to use a larger map for your students rather than the smaller one provided in each word search. Altogether there are 7 pages in this file: 3 word searches, 3 answer keys, 1 A4 sized map.

Flags with Stars Matchup Geography Countries Starter Settler Activity Homework Cover Lesson

Flags with Stars Matchup Geography Countries Starter Settler Activity Homework Cover Lesson

Matchup activity on the theme of 'Flags with Stars'. Powerpoint so can be used on the board or printed as a worksheet. Ideal for the start of a lesson, a quick filler, a homework, part of a cover lesson or as a plenary on the board with a whiteboard pen. The idea behind these is to get students to become more literate and think independently about the words that could be used to describe the topic being taught. The repetition of the word over and over as they look for the word is useful in remembering the terms. Often the students will pick up on things that you would not normally expect!
