Functional Skills Reading - proofreading L1/L2

Resource contains six Functional Skills proofreading activites for L1 and L2. I tend to use these at the start of the class. I give the learners a short time frame and see who can spot the most errors in the time given. We then read through the text as a group agreeing on the corrections. They could also be used as individual work and learners could rewrite the texts correcting them as they go.

Proofreading Checklist Adhesive Labels Printable Self Assessment Sticky Label J8163

Proofreading Checklist Adhesive Labels Printable Self Assessment Sticky Label J8163

Useful label printable for students to check their work independently. 14 labels per page, designed to fit on the Avery J8163 adhesive labels or similar. Download comes with or without gridlines. The gridlines version is useful if you want to print onto paper, cut and stick onto student work, whereas the no gridlines version is great for if you want to print directly onto adhesive labels. I regularly use these with my secondary age SEMH students as it helps focus their work, and they begin to learn to self check before submitting for marking.

I´m Cindy from Leipzig, Germany. I have been a German and English teacher for more than 12 years now. And I love coffee breaks ☕️. Coffee is just great. Over the years I have realized how much my students benefit most from lessons where THEY are the leaders, where THEY are encouraged to be proactive and learn from each other. Handing over the reins to my students doesn’t make me weaker as a teacher. It makes them responsible for their own learning and is highly motivating. I don’t want my students to be sailors. I want them to be CAPTAINS! (And I want coffee!) My teaching resources are all designed to enable students to USE the language. This is why you will always find the communicative approach in my resources - even simple crosswords come with ideas for speaking activities. All of my resources have been tested in class and will be updated regularly. Please rate my resources to help me build a reputation among millions of resources. Pop Star Interview (Lesson Plans, PowerPoint, & Worksheet / 3-5 Lessons)

Pop Star Interview (Lesson Plans, PowerPoint, & Worksheet / 3-5 Lessons)

In this series of lessons for English language learners, students roleplay as interviewers and pop stars. Supported by worksheets and role cards, the students perform and record the interview speaking activity. This is followed by a collaborative writing task, peer-supported proof-reading, and a final performance. The main activity is supplemented by three grammar review sessions, focusing on subject-verb agreement, possessive adjectives, and consistent tense use. Suggested extension/ homework activities are also provided. This series of lessons was very successful every time I taught it to ESL / EAL learners. Each segment of the main activity builds upon what has gone before. Vocabulary research and practice precede the role-play, and targetted grammar practice prepares the students for the writing task. The proof-reading and further role-play practice lead into the final presentation. The grammar review sessions feature detailed grammar presentations, group and individual practice activities, and grammar games. I designed a lot of interdependence into the activities and the students collaborated really well and had a lot of fun. All lessons are supported by high-quality, detailed PowerPoints and a step-by-step teacher guide/ lesson plan. Multiple versions of PowerPoints are provided to ensure compatibility with PowerPoint 97 to 2016. PDF alternatives are also included. This pack should cover about 5 lessons (before the extension activities) depending on the speed and English ability of your students. *** The download is in zip format. The .zip contains .pdfs and PowerPoints. You will need a zip extraction program, a .pdf reader, and Microsoft PowerPoint to use this product.
