Kurt Schwitters, quotes by German artist on life & art in non-political Dada - free art-resource for pupils, students, teachers
Kurt Schwitters refers in the quotes to his own created Dada art - like the many glued collages he made, his Dada-poems (he partly created with Hans Arp), his installation art: Merz-bau and his music-piece the Ursonate.
Kurt Schwitters was a German Dadaist sculptor, painter, poet and writer. He represented as essential Dada artist the non-political Dada in Germany. He organized Dada-meetings, o.a. in The Netherlands, together with Theo van Doesburg.
Schwitters had to move to Norway in the 1930’s and later again to England, to escape the terror of Nazism. He became most famous by his many glued collages, he made of everyday-material like tram-tickets.
