AQA Spanish A Level Topics and Ideas - Year 1 only

AQA Spanish A Level Topics and Ideas - Year 1 only

This resource provides summaries and ideas of each of the 6 topics and 12 sub-themes covered in year 1 Spanish. It’s great for revision and teaching purposes as it provides Spanish-speaking examples that go above and beyond what can be found in the text book, displaying it all in a concise and accessible format. It also features useful vocabulary for both the speaking and written exams.

AQA A Level Spanish Topic Summaries and Ideas - Years 1&2

AQA A Level Spanish Topic Summaries and Ideas - Years 1&2

These powerpoints were made by me during my A Level Spanish studies; they summarise key facts, figures and discussion points relating to each of the topics and sub-themes which will help when it comes to studying and revising for the speaking exam, as well as vocabulary for the written exams. They include all of the year one and year two topics, as well as useful vocab that’s either listed or used within each slide. It’s set out in an easy-to-use order to avoid confusion and has extra information (e.g. examples of events in the Spanish-speaking world which are relevant to each sub-theme and can be very impressive in the exam) and is handy for finding what you’re looking for. My teacher will be using these to support her next class, I am sure it will be very helpful!

Eurovision 2018 MFL SPANISH

Eurovision 2018 MFL SPANISH

Resources that can be used for a lesson or two on Eurovision for a Spanish class. Would work particularly well with Y9 and GCSE to get them using more interesting opinions but can be adapted for any year really. It’s good to use for Media topic (Music) and for writing with opinions. I have used this resource many times over the last few years and just changed it each year to make it up to date, it has always gone down really well with students! Resources include: Powerpoint Sweepstake of countries to cut out* Score cards for the semi finals *(will add the Final scorecard when final contestants are announced) Worksheet that includes a countries match up English to Spanish and a score card that pupils can write their votes on and choose an adjective to describe each song. A level Spanish Speaking Revision Booklet

A level Spanish Speaking Revision Booklet

A revision booklet aimed at A level students doing the AQA spec. Primarily, it includes a list of the exam regulations as well as the structure of the exam. As this booklet focuses on the stimulus card aspect of the exam, it also has a mark scheme for that. It includes an example of a stimulus card on all 12 themes used throughout AS and A level AQA Spanish. There are three questions on each card, and subsequently, there are possible answers to each question on each card to show students how to structure their planning and best use their time. There is space for extra annotations and translations to be done as the comments are in English. As the students are required to ask their teacher 2 questions relating to the card, there are also 4 examples per card of questions students could ask. At the end of the booklet, there are tasks for the students to complete. These tasks include: plan your own response for three of the questions under ‘possible questions to ask teachers’ where students are encouraged to think outside the box. practice doing one of the cards with a peer, taking it in turns to swap roles and be the examiner. This helps them to get to grips with the mark scheme. lastly, there is an example of transcript between a student and an examiner. The students should annotate this with what the student did well, and how they could improve. By doing both of these, the students can learn something.

KS5 Spanish: Spontaneous Speaking Cards

KS5 Spanish: Spontaneous Speaking Cards

These cards aim to enhance fluency and spontaneity amongst KS5 pupils. The idea is that they pick up a card at random, ask their partner the question and listen to their partner’s response (and vice versa). All cards cover the different topics which come up at AS level (fashion, young people, family, tv, music, art, culture, internet and technology, tourism etc.) They are colour-coded based on topic and cover a range of different questions - ranging from the easier to the more challenging. Of course, this resource could be used in a number of ways but I used it with my Year 12 class as a spontaneous on-the-spot speaking activity in which pupils gave each other verbal feedback. It was very successful and pupils enjoyed the surprise element of it!

AQA A-Level Spanish. Revision for Speaking exam

AQA A-Level Spanish. Revision for Speaking exam

This is a very simple and structured way to support students revising for their AQA A-level speaking exam. This resource was inspired by a GCSE French resource I saw on Twitter. The original layout was 20 minutes a day for 40 days. Mine is, due to my timing, 20 minutes a day of Spanish for 20 days. How yo use: When scanning the QR Code printed on the handout, your students will be able to find all the tasks, day by day. For some of revision tasks, students have to email the teacher some sort of evidence to show that they have done and completed the daily task. Buena suerte!

LAS FALLAS de Valencia - Cultural Lesson AS/ALevels or KS4

Cultural lesson about my hometown’s big celebration: Las fallas, includes clips, a song and lots of explanations in Spanish about this popular Celebration declared Patrimonio Inmaterial de la Humanidad in 2017. It goes well with the AS/ALevels Spanish AQA topic “El Patrimonio Nacional”. It is also a very good powerpoint if you want to do a cultural lesson with KS3 or KS4 students, however the texts are in TL and would need some translation. I have a KS3 version of the presentation created, please, ask if interested :). I hope you enjoy such a colourful display! Paula PD: I have attached a video about Spanish festivities as a starter , so the file might be a bit heavy, however it also has the videos embeded in the ppt notes.

KS5 Spanish : Architecture & Culture in Spain

KS5 Spanish : Architecture & Culture in Spain

This presentation and accompanying worksheets cover the topic of architecture in Spain and how this links to Spain’s cultural heritage and history. The architecture explored in these resources covers Roman architecture, the influence of the Moors in Southern Spain (Alhambra Palace, Granada) and the architecture of Gaudi and its impact on tourism. Great cultural topic with the opportunity for pupils to practice reading comprehension, translation, speaking and listening skills.

Reading, speaking and listening practice. Can also be used as a framework for a writing activity. In pairs: Give students a profile each and a set of questions to ask each other. They can refer to the profiles to give their answers using first or second person. To challenge some students, ask them to create their own questions to discover more about their partner, or begin inventing new information about their character. They can also use the examples to create their own profiles for Spanish speakers or as a structure to begin building up a description of their own life or friends. Lots of options. Please feel free to give feedback if you spot any mistakes.
