#### Vectors Topic Mat

A mat to summarise key concepts from the Year 1 A Level Topic Vectors (Edexcel 2017+). I also include a suggestion for how the mat could be filled out. I usually use it as a plenary – ask the pupils for the key ideas from the lesson and collectively fill in sections over a sequence of lessons. At the end of a topic they have a topic mat from which to revise from. I also photocopy them on different coloured paper so they act as dividers in students’ folders.

#### Vectors (Core 4) - resources to cover the whole topic

These resources are designed to introduce the vectors topic for the Core 4 module. The first resource introduces all the required skills and knowledge using just 2 dimensions, which enables students to use/draw diagrams to help them understand the steps in the solutions. At appropriate points within this resource there are prompts to attempt one of the other worksheets to focus on a particular skill or type of question. All the other worksheets work in 3 dimensions, so students may need help with the first couple of examples on each sheet. There are lots of examples on each sheet to help students become confident with that particular part of the vectors topic. Answers are provided for all the worksheets, either on the sheet or as a separate resource.

#### Pure Mathematics 3 Topical Past Papers (VECTORS)

The compilation contains past paper items about vectors taken from Paper 3 A Level Mathematics (9709). The file has a clickable table of content for easier navigation of the pages. Each item is labeled by the year and examination series (either February/March, May/June or October/November series) it was taken. #### Vectors Probing Questions

This is an activity for Yr13 pupils to check and extend their understanding of vectors. This is a a set of questions to really check understanding of several vector concepts including magnitudes of vectors, vector equations of lines, scalar product and closest distance between a point and a line. Answers and workings included for our suggested vectors but you, the teacher, could choose to ask students for their own vector suggestions which would give completely different answers. Bonus Resource 1: Notes on Vectors. This is the set of ‘notes on a page’ that I give to my students doing this topic. Bonus Resource 2: Vector Triangles in 3D Space - A great problem-solving-style, simple question with many approaches and possible answers; Sort these triangles into scalene, isosceles and equilateral. Which are right angled too? The task involves using lots of those key vector techniques that students need to be able to perform. Sorry, no answers here this time though. #### Vector product (cross product) worksheet

This worksheet is a good way to give your class plenty of practice calculating and using the vector product. The first 2 questions just involve finding the vector product of two given vectors, both in column vector and in I,j,k form. The remaining questions introduce how the vector product can be used to answer particular questions such as converting vector eqn of plane to normal eqn, or finding the area of triangle in 3 dimensions. Fully worked solutions are provided to the questions.
