Statistics: Normal Distribution BUNDLE (4 Lessons) - Perfect for S1 and S2

Statistics: Normal Distribution BUNDLE (4 Lessons) - Perfect for S1 and S2

This is four excellent lessons. All the lessons are approximately 25 slides and should be enough for a long double A-Level lesson (1hr 40 - 2hours) Lesson 1 - Standard Normal / Introduction Lesson 2 - Non Standard / Standardizing Lesson 3 - Backwards and Problems Lesson 4 - Approximation for Binomial Distribution NOTE: Feel free to browse my shop for more free and premium resources! Statistics: (S1) Normal Distribution 3 - Backwards and Further Problems (+ worksheets)

Statistics: (S1) Normal Distribution 3 - Backwards and Further Problems (+ worksheets)

This is the third of four lessons on the normal distribution, which builds on the first two lessons. This is your A/A* material, looking at different types of questions and problems. This is an excellent resource, with lots and lots of excellent teaching slides, 21 slides. Specifically, this lesson is for teaching about how to work backwards and different questions. It does touch on linear combinations, so I recommend teaching that first (also available from my shop) and looks in detail at little issues/ mistakes that people can make. This is a vital lesson for your top end students and gives less able students more time to practise the normal distribution. I have therefore included two worksheets (exam questions) aimed at different abilities students and then come with accompanying mark schemes. Statistics: (S1) Normal Distribution 2 - Non / Not Standard (+ Worksheet)

Statistics: (S1) Normal Distribution 2 - Non / Not Standard (+ Worksheet)

This is the second of four lessons on the normal distribution, which builds on the first lesson that introduced the topic by looking at what to do when data is not in the standard normal form. This is an excellent resource, with lots and lots of excellent teaching slides, 21 slides. Specifically, this lesson is for teaching what is the normal distribution is, the criteria for using it and how and HOW TO STANDARDISE, and again how to use lookup tables to solve problems that are in a standard normal form having standardised. I have also included questions I often used with accompanying mark scheme. Edexcel S1 Revision clock

Edexcel S1 Revision clock

This is a revision activity for Edexcel S1 based on the ideas shared on Jo Morgan's brilliant website http://www.resourceaholic.com/. This was originally shared here http://justmaths.co.uk/2015/10/18/keeping-time/. This activity could be used to help improve students' timing by giving them 5 minutes for each of the 12 questions, to improve memory, or simply to produce a visual revision resource. Each student should be given an A3 copy of the clock with a set of questions. Answers are provided.

Statistics: (S2) Normal distribution 4 - Approximation for the Binomial Distribution (+ worksheet)

Statistics: (S2) Normal distribution 4 - Approximation for the Binomial Distribution (+ worksheet)

This is the fourth of a series of lessons on the normal distribution. It is applicable for S2 in the UK, but international A-Level has this as a part of the S1 specification. 26 slides. This lesson needs to proceed lessons on the binomial and normal distributions, both available as a lesson in my shop. Specifically, this lesson is for teaching when to use the normal distribution as an approximation for a binomial distribution. It looks at why we use and looks in a lot of detail at common mistakes pupil's make in order for pupil's to avoid doing it and I have had excellent results on this topic using this resource. I have used the PowerPoint slides to structure the lesson and includes plenty of examples, superb teaching slides with lots of custom animation, keywords, learning objectives, differentiated questions and basic plenary. Statistics: (S1) Making the Mean and Variance Easier (CODING)

Statistics: (S1) Making the Mean and Variance Easier (CODING)

This is a teaching resource to help pupils understand coding and the basics of linear adjustments/combinations and how to calculate back and forward from the original data to the coded data. It comes with a good starter, a look at re-arranging and then why coding is used and how it is used. Links to past exam questions, however, it does not come with lots of questions as at that point of practice, I use our S1 textbook. Also a rule sheet handout! Autograph Video 40 - Biased Dice & Balls in a Bag

Autograph Video 40 - Biased Dice & Balls in a Bag

A video tutorial covering biased dice and probability. Ideal for KS3, GCSE and A Level maths. The 40th in Mr Barton's Autograph Video tutorial series. This week we take a look at how Autograph can be used to introduce students to the concept of experimental probability. You can very quickly set up a probability distribution function of your choice (fair dice, biased dice, numbered balls in a bag, you name it!), take samples of varying sizes, and create diagrams from the data.

Succession in Randomia - Probability Investigation

Succession in Randomia - Probability Investigation

Another number problem from N-rich. This activity involves working out the probability of getting two outcomes when tossing a coin to see which event, if any, is more likely. This would make an ideal investigation lesson into probability for KS4. Pupils drawing probability trees would be a good extension. Teacher notes and a full set of solutions are provided to help with planning. By tossing a coin one of three princes is chosen to be the next King of Randomia. Does each prince have an equal chance of taking the throne?

Statistics 1 - Normal Distribution - KS4 and S1

Statistics 1 - Normal Distribution - KS4 and S1

The following sheet is an activity that explores the normal distribution function. Ideal for KS4 and Post16 students. Norm Dist 1 - explores how the mean and standard deviation effect the normal distribution function Norm Dist 2 - explores the probability distribution for a symmetrical two tailed event Norm Dist 3 - explores the probability of a general two tailed event You will need to allow macros to run when using most of the sheets available here. This can be checked by opening Excel and clicking :- Tools Macros Security and choosing Medium or Low security.
