Basic Drawing Skills - Scheme of Work - Knowledge Rich Curriculum

Basic Drawing Skills - Scheme of Work - Knowledge Rich Curriculum

Year 7 - Term 1 - Basic Drawing Skills Scheme of Work / Practice Makes Permanent (Literacy Bank) / Assessment and Feedback Materials This resource has been developed in response to the Knowledge Rich Curriculum advocated by teachers, researchers and administrators who have inspired the Free School Movement. It is an attempt to put into practice a fun and engaging Knowledge Rich Curriculum. Traditionally Art is seen purely as an outlet for creativity and expression. However, there is a danger in classrooms of Art not being taken seriously as an academic subject. Without knowledge as the foundation of everything we do in Art, students will lack the ability to be able to draw or realise their creative ideas or designs. Students will be unable to evaluate, critique or learn from other artists effectively . If you want to know more about this movement then I recommend researching the work of Andrew Old, Tom Bennett, Daisy Cristodoulou, Doug Lemov, Robert Peal, Jonathan Simons, Katherine Birbalsingh or James O’Shaughnessy.

www.school-of-thought.co.uk

www.school-of-thought.co.uk

As a Fine Art and English post graduate of Liverpool Hope University I have developed an educational website that focuses on Learning & Teaching methodology. Its main aim is to develop and create independent learning and thinking, which can be used across many educational settings such as: Schools, Colleges, Universities, Adult Education and other educational settings. My approach has been to develop a more inclusive and holistic approach to learning when acquiring knowledge. For example, as an innovative learning practitioner, I have created digital resources that build on technical, practical and theoretical awareness and attainment ability; plus I have designed concepts geared towards expanding cognitive learning or thought strategies, that are specifically focused on analysis, both with research and the development towards personal concepts or ideas. The website offers a broad range of materials which highlights various areas of practical and critical theoretical concepts which include cognitive skills relating to Art and Design. The main aim of School of Thought is to bring together the often disparate worlds of Art Theory and Art Practical, enabling the learner to make much more informed outcomes, whatever their theme or topic may be. Using the creative thinking skills that these learning resources provide, as well as the practical, technical and critical theory recorded workshops, the learner is able to generate a wider range of outcomes and importantly to be able to discuss them using in-depth terminology. The main objective and purpose is to develop and create independent learning, thinking and a personal response towards creative outcomes. Ultimately, it is to enhance the experience of independent learning and to create a personal response towards progression between the key stages of development.
