Face to Face

Face to Face

This resource provides the material for a complete unit of work. It may be used in conjunction with a visit to the Art Galleries at the National Museum Cardiff. The aim of the unit is to provide pupils with the tools to be able to describe, compare and analyse portrait paintings. Pupils will be presented with two portraits from different periods and will be led through a series of activities which will teach elements of visual language and develop pupils’ understanding of the context in which portraits were painted.

The little ice age

This Roots & Shoots activity is about the impact of climate change in history. Your students will be looking at the period referred to as the ‘Little Ice Age’, and the conditions people of the time lived in. Climate change is not just something that might happen, but something that HAS happened in the past! RootsnShoots is the Jane Goodall Institute’s international Education Programme for young people. It inspires practical, positive action for people, animals and the environment. A free resource pack is available for teachers who register at www.rootsnshoots.org.uk
