Vectors (Workbook)

Vectors (Workbook)

This booklet is very good for teaching Vectors. It completely covers the requirements of GCSE and gives lots of good examples. It starts with column vectors and builds into vector diagrams, finishing with the most typical type of questions that are seen in GCSE exams. I have used this booklet extremely effectively with my students and they gain a better understanding of the topic than the students in parallel classes that work through the text book. -- Note that the booklet is designed to be printed as A4, but I quite often reduce it to A5 and it still does the job. -- Detailed solutions are included.

Vector Notation Starter

Vector Notation Starter

This is a simple and quick exercise to match 4 translations with 4 vectors. This could of course be used as a quick recap at the start of a lesson having previously introduced the concept however I have most often used this BEFORE I teach students about vector notation. We explore the idea of translation using words like up, down, left, right etc... and then I give them the exercise to see if they can work it out for themselves. They always do :) One fun way to introduce translations is by showing a video of American line dancing! Youtube has plenty.

GCSE 9-1 Exam Question Practice (Vectors)

GCSE 9-1 Exam Question Practice (Vectors)

This carefully selected compilation of exam questions has fully-worked solutions designed for students to go through at home. This can save a lot of valuable time in class. Click -->https://tes.com/.../Exam Question Practice to download question compilations on 40 other topics. -- These 'booklets' cover the full range of skills expected at GCSE for each topic. The questions in this particular compilation include using diagrammatic and column representation of vectors to find resultants, and using vectors to construct geometric arguments and proof (needed for the Higher Tier). I usually print these questions as an A5 booklet and issue them in class or give them out as a homework. I also make them available for a student who wants to do independent study.
