These PPTs are useful for lesson introductions about Area and Perimeter in KS2 maths. They can be used to demonstrate examples and calculation methods.
To introduce area and perimeter you want to first start by choosing one skill to teach at a time. I usually start with area because you can relate it to multiplication which is one of the skills we do just before area and perimeter.
- PPT1 - Area- A little panda character runs through the method of finding the area of a shape by first counting squares and then by using WxL multiplication method. You can unlock the panda and remove to reveal Santa if your lesson coincides with Christmas. This PPT also contains differentiated worksheets which you can print off.
- PPT 2 - Perimeter- The same little panda helps you to go through how to calculate the perimeter of shapes in very simple steps.
