RMS AM GM HM inequality poster

RMS AM GM HM inequality poster

A minimalist illustration of a popular geometric representation of the RMS-AM-GM-HM inequality. I was inspired to make this after reading Presh Talwalker’s blog post: The Famous RMS-AM-GM-HM Inequality; and watching his YouTube video: Famous Inequality Worth Knowing: RMS-AM-GM-HM Inequality. You can download the poster as PDF or JPG. In the ZIP file is the original Affinity Designer document. The font is Encode Sans Semi Condensed (free on Google Fonts).

Understanding Inequalities 4 (Loop Cards)

Understanding Inequalities 4 (Loop Cards)

I love to start one-to-one tutorials/interventions with a loop card activity. They are also excellent when working with small groups or as a starter or plenary for a whole class. To see all the available loop-card topics click 👉 tes.com/…/More Loop Cards….<hr>This particular set of cards allows students to practise reading inequalities on number lines and expressing them symbolically. Note that the questions have been carefully selected so that they provide good coverage of this sub-topic and so that the opportunities for students to guess answers are minimised.<hr>Colour coding: All my loop cards are colour-coded to indicate the approximate level of the questions: KS2 – red and orange KS3/GCSE Foundation – orange and green GCSE Higher – green, blue and purple<hr>Further information: In this download there are four sets of similar cards and a student chooses one of the sets and sorts them into order by answering the questions. Then they try to do it faster using a different set, which has the same questions, but a different sort order 😃 My favourite use of loop cards is for two students to have different versions of the cards and race each other. They then check their answers, shuffle, swap packs and race again (quickest overall time wins). More instructions are included in the download. Cut out card size is approx. 65 x 90 mm.<hr>👍If you like this resource, then please rate it and/or leave a comment💬. Differentiated Introduction to Graphing Linear inequalities

Differentiated Introduction to Graphing Linear inequalities

This is a worksheet that allows the students to gain confidence by first plotting the linear graph, then developing their knowledge by changing the symbol from = to less/more than. Then finally extending their knowledge by changing the symbol to a more/less than or equal to. With effective questioning this makes a good independent introduction task.

GCSE 9-1 Exam Question Practice (Inequality Graphs)

This carefully selected compilation of exam questions has fully-worked solutions designed for students to go through at home, saving valuable time in class. Click 👉 tes.com/…/Exam Question Practice… to download question compilations for more than 50 other topics.<hr>The questions in this particular compilation require students to work with inequality graphs. Students either have to draw straight lines and identify a region which has been defined by up to three inequalities, or they are given a graph and they have to state the inequalities from which it has been drawn. <hr>I usually print these questions as an A5 booklet and issue them in class or give them out as a homework. I also make them available for a student who wants to do focused independent study on a specific topic.<hr>👍If you like this resource, then please rate it and/or leave a comment💬. Solving Inequalities Clues Problem

Solving Inequalities Clues Problem

x is an integer that obeys all 5 inequalities in this problem. The students must solve the inequalities to narrow down the possibilities. I tend to just give this to the students and allow them to come up with their own strategies. If they struggle I suggest the use of a number grid or line to keep track of the eliminated possibilities. Please note; The inequality (x-8)/2x >= 1/3 can be manipulated and solved once the students have established that x must be positive.
