10 Instant Writing Ideas

10 Instant Writing Ideas

Here are 10 great ideas that will get your children writing quickly. Writers of all abilities are given a simple structure that will enable them to succeed in getting words down on that blank piece of paper. They will achieve a rewarding result quickly. To encourage independent work, each activity begins with an example of the intended outcome, so young writers can see what they are aiming at. The activity is then explained, step by step, leaving you, the teacher, to decide how best to present it to your class. For some a short piece of writing might be a great achievement in itself. For others it is just a start and they can be encouraged to revisit and redraft their writing to make it the best they can. Money raised from the sale of all our resources goes to a local charity for sick children called MedEquip4Kids.

It’s full of examples of different kinds of brown, found in flora and fauna, foods, and our own features. Its short lines and punchy rhythms make it suitable for clapping and chanting, while inviting further description too. I am. I can. I will. Mindfulness and confidence building activity

I am. I can. I will. Mindfulness and confidence building activity

**Nowadays we are becoming more just how much more aware we need to be. The importance **of developing an inner compass that points to an attitude of self belief, determination, resilience and being kids to others, will carry us well through life. This is something that anyone who has every tried to achieve something in their lives knows too well, and I’m sure understand the value of learning this at a young age. This resource is inspired by the morals from my book so can be incorporated into literacy/guided reading lesson, and aims to create class discussion through the introduction of news words or reflecting on words already learned and how they can personally apply them to their own life, which leads to children creating positive self declarations which they can take home with them and keep safe. This resource aims to show children potential and the endless possibilities before them, and the important of a positive mental attitude. Includes worksheets to be used as a poster. Flash cards to introduce new words and phrases and to help them to fill out the worksheet. Extract from on the book in which the main character demonstrates a positive ‘I can’ attitude, despite possible negative opinions. Www.bethshepherd.com

Images for writing prompts (AQA GCSE English Language 9-1 Paper 1)

Images for writing prompts (AQA GCSE English Language 9-1 Paper 1)

to One of the main issues that I have encountered when preparing students for their Section B creative writing question is the need to come up with original ideas in a short space of time. I began to use images in starter activities, giving the pupils a few minutes to come up with as many ideas as they could - using prompts if needs be. I found this had a fantastic effect on my pupils writing and their ability to come up with original and creative ideas. More importantly, they were no longer nervous of this. This presentation has a range of images and prompts/activities for pupils to have a go at. They are a great starter task or can be printed off into a booklet.

Adjectival Phrases

Adjectival Phrases

This worksheet is about adjectival phrases. It is very explicit in describing an adjectival phrase. The examples that follow are progressive in their difficulty. It is not designed to trick but to instruct. I used this with a Year 5 class as I wanted them to make their texts more interesting by including adjectival phrases.
