The 5 Minute Lesson Plan by @TeacherToolkit

The 5 Minute Lesson Plan by @TeacherToolkit

*Updated January 2018* - with 1-hour webinar tutorial to guide new users. Designed to reduce planning time and focus on key learning phases within a lesson. (Will still require thinking!) Lesson planning is a habit of thought, not a form filling exercise. Remember, watchdogs no longer require a lesson plan for lessons, but evidence of ‘a planned lesson!’ So, why use the 5 Minute Lesson Plan? Useful for coaching and mentoring NQTs; or with established colleagues for paired observations; designed to help teachers consider the cognitive processes required in lesson planning. “Stickability” = What will stick in students minds as they leave your lesson? What key point do you want them to remember? Now translated into 14 languages and available for free on Teacher Toolkit website.

Whole School Timetable

Whole School Timetable

I created and developed these customised Excel workbooks to produce a whole school timetable from scratch. I have used commercial packages over the years but I have found that I have a better overview and greater flexibility with these files. Timetable Setup file makes use of Excel's in built features to help determine optimum solution for option blocks and class scheduling with invalid combinations highlighted. Once Timetable Setup file is completed timetables can be viewed for an individual teacher, class or room in Timetable file. I appreciate that the cost of this resource makes it a considered purchase. The price reflects the many hours of work I have spent creating and developing the files and I am happy to assist users who have any questions. There is also a free version of this resource (containing Timetable Setup file only): Whole School Timetable Demo Files are updated on a regular basis and feedback is welcome. Supporting learning and dealing with behaviour

The best way to deal with behaviour is to engage the student in their learning. This is done by developing a good rapport with the student and getting to know them. This is a resource that gives some ways to help engage students and can be used by staff and kept in planners to help them.

Teacher Excel Markbook

Teacher Excel Markbook

This excel spreadsheet can be used to record student's grades. Using a 1-10 system you can record their marks and it will automatically average the grade. If you enter J, K or L in capitals (which is converted into a smiley face) in the effort column it will also average their effort grade. This provides formative feedback and allows progress to be monitored. This is a concept and could easily be adapted for specific use, i.e. Assessment without levels, BTEC etc.

OK, so somebody else has a great idea, or they say it is, and you want work out if it is worth backing. Your first question should be ‘Well, what is in your literature review?’. If it does not include The Top Ten, ask them why not.
