Beginner Dutch - Useful sentences for travelling & possessive pronouns - Lesson 3 - Suitable for A2.

A powerpoint covering 14 words and 11 sentences in Dutch used when travelling. Also overview of possessive pronouns in 2 versions (e.g. 'mijn' = my and 'van mij'= mine). 14 words: het water = the water de koffie = the coffee de thee = the tea de frisdrank = the soda het broodje = the sandwich het/de ticket = the ticket de krant = the newspaper het tijdschrift = the magazine het paspoort = the passport de identiteitskaart = the ID-card het toilet/de wc = the toilet het café = the cafeteria de luchthaven = the airport het treinstation = the trainstation 11 sentences: Mag ik u wat vragen? = May I ask you something? Nee, liever niet. = No, rather not. Ja, natuurlijk. = Yes, of course. Graag gedaan. = You're welcome. Alstublieft. = Here you go / please. Dankuwel/Hartelijk dank. = Thank you. Ik begrijp u niet. = I do not understand you. Waar is de/het...? = Where is the...? Kunt u dat herhalen, alstublieft? = Could you repeat that please? Ik spreek een beetje Nederlands. = I speak a little bit of Dutch. Kunt u mij helpen, alstublieft? = Could you help me please? Answers are provided on the slides as well as extension activities (so-called 'stretch it'). Suitable for A2 learners. Lesson 3 out of 10 lessons.

This is a partner activity. Students take turns identifying the weather and then connecting them if correct. The goal is to complete as many squares as possible. Uses the vocabulary for: sunny, rain, snow, stormy/bad, nice/beautiful, cold, hot, windy, cloudy, tornado. Good for any language.

This is a partner speaking activity. The student with the “A” sheet slowly reads the list of numbers, in order, in the target language. Student B listens and connects the dots in the order that they are read. Students then reverse roles. Uses the numbers 20 to 60. May be used for any language.

Set of 144 dominoes; print on cardstock and cut into tiles. Make 1 set for every 3-4 students. Each domino has a picture of an animal and the word in Dutch for an animal; total of 12 animals are used. Play like a normal Dominoes game.

Nummers (Numbers in Dutch) Slap game

Cards include digits and words in Dutch for the numbers 0 to 1000; there is a total of 30 cards. Print on cardstock and cut into cards. Make 1 set for every 3-4 students. Place cards face up on the desk. If the teacher calls out a number in Dutch, the first student to slap the digit card wins that point. If the teacher calls out a number in English, the first student to slap the right card in Dutch wins that point.
