MOUSE BIRD SNAKE WOLF – [Almond & McKean] Graphic Novel STUDY BOOKLET & RESOURCES

MOUSE BIRD SNAKE WOLF – [Almond & McKean] Graphic Novel STUDY BOOKLET & RESOURCES

MOUSE BIRD SNAKE WOLF – STUDY BOOKLET – RESOURCES provides everything a teacher needs to share this highly acclaimed graphic novel in detail – SHORTLISTED for the CILIP KATE GREENAWAY MEDAL 2014. The study booklet has been designed as a short unit of work where pupils consider the structure of ‘Creation Stories’ through the genre of a graphic novel [no specific religions are explored in this study]. The book is read to pupils [in two parts] before the graphics are revealed and explored, then pupils are required to answer a range of related questions through written and oral responses. The resources provided will help pupils understand and retain the story, while developing their knowledge to create their own graphic novel [extension activity]. This Unit of Work can be used as a whole class resource, independent/group work, or set individually as homework. The questions are clear and progress is easily achieved. The book used is; Mouse Bird Snake Wolf by David Almond and Dave McKean. First published 2013. This edition published 2014 - Walker Books Ltd. ISBN: 978-1-4063-4599-5

Christmas The Nativity Wordsearch End of Term Quiz Starter Settler Activity Homework Cover Lesson

Christmas The Nativity Wordsearch End of Term Quiz Starter Settler Activity Homework Cover Lesson

Wordsearch on the theme of The Nativity. Powerpoint so can be used on the board or printed as a worksheet. Includes space for students to explain the keywords and suggested extension activities. Can take 10 minutes or an hour, depending on which activities the students complete. Ideal for the start of a lesson, a quick filler, a homework, part of a cover lesson or as a plenary on the board with a whiteboard pen. The idea behind these is to get students to become more literate and think independently about the words that could be used to describe the topic being taught. The repetition of the word over and over as they look for the word is useful in remembering the terms. Often the students will pick up on things that you would not normally expect!

Do Miracles still happen?

Do Miracles still happen?

A resource with embedded video clips, group tasks, differentiated activities and resources as well as mini plenaries. Plenty for students to get their intellectual/philosophical teeth into. There are also a range of miracles to look at: if you would like to explore the miracles of Jesus more then there are resources which look specifically at those, whilst there are also a range of more 'modern' Miracles, like crying statues, floating brooms lambs with 'allah' appearing in their coat and people being cured of cancer. From the sublime to the ridiculous, I know. Learning Objectives: To understand what a miracle is To know some examples of Miracles To think about if I believe miracles can happen Links well to religious studies GCSE and KS3 groups, as well as compulsory GCSE sets. I use it in conjunction with my science and religion module to exemplify that much of what we do today with science would have once been considered miraculous.

Miracles - Lesson 6 - Hulme and Miracles - Philosophers' attitudes to miracles - Empiricism

Miracles - Lesson 6 - Hulme and Miracles - Philosophers' attitudes to miracles - Empiricism

This lesson has the pupils engage with the understanding of David Hume's view on miracles. Pupils must become sceptics and can analyse either a traditional miracle or a modern religious miracle. Pupils will look at the works of other philosophers and relate the views researched to their own personal views regarding miracles. The lesson offers different tasks depending on whether you wish to develop your pupils' reading skills or analysis skills. There is a differentiated written task at the end which has pupils evaluate miracles and utilise all the knowledge they have learnt in the lesson. This lesson includes: Differentiated Tasks. Key Vocabulary. Analysis Work. SMSC Skills. Analysis of Religious Teachings. Analysis of Philosophical Views. Application of Knowledge and Development of Personal Views. As a dedicated professional I take a lot of pride in the work I create, most of which I have offered on TES free of charge. My free lessons and resources come mostly with 4.5+ star ratings and to be sure of their quality you're welcome to download them. I offer my charged lessons at the minimum amount as I do not believe in extorting my peers but at the same time I am a professional looking to make ends meet.

Christmas assembly - The birth of Jesus - Refugees theme

Christmas assembly - The birth of Jesus - Refugees theme

This is a plan for a Christmas assembly on the birth of Jesus, with a focus on journeys and refugees. There is an attached PowerPoint with the story and relevant facts for the assembly. The plan is easy to follow and requires no resources, so is perfect for using at the last minute! I like leading assemblies that are interactive, engaging and relevant to the children's lives. So this assembly involves some volunteers acting out the story and a discussion about how refugees make similar journeys to Mary and Joseph. There is a lot of opportunity for children to think about their own experiences, current events and to feedback. There is also an example prayer/reflection to finish with. Please note: The PowerPoint is also available separately from the assembly from Blossoming Minds Teaching Resources.
