NATRE Spirited Arts RE lessons 2018

This is a set of 7 lessons, 8+ if you include the lesson for students to begin developing their piece of art work, to get students thinking about some of the NATRE Spirited Arts 2018 Themes. All lessons have at least one learning objective and some outcomes based on mastery skill levels/bands. There are 2 lessons on the ‘Holy Spaces’ theme, these are the first two within the PowerPoint. The first is pilgrimage and considering how and why places of pilgrimage are holy spaces then the second is a church lesson, why is this a holy space for Christians, with the opportunity for students to design their own church/holy space. The second theme is the ‘Pray! (Reflect! Meditate!)’ theme, there are 3 lessons on this theme. The first is a lesson on can songs be prayers linking to Tupac Ghetto Gospel, the second is using Bruce Almighty and the prayer focus within this film, what would happen if everyone got everything they wanted etc. The third is on Buddhist meditation to give a bit of religious varity and to show that different religions pray in different ways and if you have spare material students can create their own prayer flag. The third theme is the theme of ‘Faith and Doubt’, there are 2 lessons on this, an introduction to philosophy and how big questions can lead to doubt within religion and then an evil and suffering lesson.

Authority KS3 RS Religious Education Scheme of work unit Y7 Y8 or Y9

This unit includes all you need to teach for around a term to KS3. There are lesson power points with back up activities, sheets, discussion points, resources, assessments etc. There is an assessment record page and a scheme of work to go with the powerpoint too. I have also written a three hour Flip Learning Project which substitutes some of the lessons as additional extra., the 99 names of God. Unit looks at leaders across faiths, holy scripture/Qu’ran as authority, Muhammad’s Night of Power and issue of obedience to authority/tradition/culture etc through wearing of coverings as a decision for Muslim women. This unit is a bridging unit into Islam another unit I have uploaded as pupils enjoyed this so much, I wrote a full unit on Islam for them for the next term. The PPT has 12 lessons and 53 slides with activities. You can pretty much walk into the room and teach from it, without further resources. Ideal if RS cover teacher or non-specialist too. I have developed a whole unit work from Year 5 up to Year 8 which I am now uploading. These have taken me hundreds of hours so I hope this saves you lots of time. Happy Sunday!
