This is a bundle of whole lessons and resources which meets all specification points for the NEW AQA GCSE Biology Combined Science Trilogy course for the ‘Homeostasis’, ‘Inheritance, variation & evolution’ and ‘Ecology’ SoW, including all higher material. This bundle includes 58 lessons, which is around 14 weeks worth of work, with all additional resources included. The lessons contain a mix of differentiated activities, mid-lesson progress checks, extra challenge tasks, exam-style questions and more than one opportunity, per lesson, for self/peer red-pen assessment of tasks as answers/mark schemes have been provided within the PowerPoint slides. MEET ‘N’ GREET MINGLE BINGO (adaptable) Ice Breaker for the New Year/ Genetics Unit/ ESL Speaking

This ‘Mingle Bingo’ is a great ice- breaker for the start of the year. There are 25 spots on the card, each describing a physical attribute (such as green eyes), a capability (such as being able to lick your elbow!) or something specific about family and home (such as having a dog, or having two sisters). Students embark on a scavenger hunt to find someone in the class who fits that descripton. There are two slightly different Bingo cards (although they do have some of the same points on them) which could be used together with everyone randomly handed on or the other, or choose which you prefer according to what you know about characteristics within your class. The idea is that everyone mingles and asks specific each other questions. When students find someone who “ticks” one of the boxes on their sheet, that person writes their name down in the space provided. Each person can only be used once, so students have to use a little bit of tactical thinking about whose name to place where! For smaller classes adjust the game by giving students a certain number of boxes to fill in, or ask them to complete a row or two. The activity would also be great for use in a module on **Genetics **as many of the Bingo boxes ask about characteristics which are dominant and recessive genes The cards could also be used in an English as Second Language class in an activity about describing people.

AQA Biology unit 6 revision game

A board game with cards to help pupils revise biology unit 6. I print the game board A3 and then print the questions onto coloured card. All you then need are dice and counters and pupils play in groups of 3/4. I get them to write notes/make flash cards on any questions they don’t get correct.

Debates 101

This resource is for all in education, from KS1-5 and even at university level, it makes debating fun, accessible and has great impact. It includes a ready to use generic template, structured stages and prompts and some guidance for debating motions. It is useful because it is tried and tested, student, teacher and parent voice indicates that it makes a positive difference to learning and engagement. The learning objectives are skills based (empathy, listening, collaboration, research, collation, reflection, application, synthesis and presentation) as well as content driven as determined by the user’s choice although all debates usually improve an awareness of the social, economic and ethical aspects of an issue. The differentiation opportunities are vast, these can be either by outcome or role allocation (e.g. captains will develop their leadership skills and may be the more able in the group). As stated at the start, it is linked to all levels and types of curricula, standards and specifications. My tip is just to try it out!

I have put together ‘mastery booklets’ that can be used for independent study for pupils to use after a section of the course has been covered. They are designed (with past paper questions and the answers) for the students to complete themselves. This is to help them gain a deeper knowledge without impacting on teacher workload. All the teacher needs to do is record when the students have completed and annotated the booklet. I have split the 7 sections into the topics for the paper 1 and the paper 2. These could be used for cover work and revision before the exams. Hope they’re useful. Harret
