SPANISH INTERACTIVE CULTURAL PROJECTS Descubriendo El Nuevo Mundo Vol.1: Central America

SPANISH INTERACTIVE CULTURAL PROJECTS Descubriendo El Nuevo Mundo Vol.1: Central America

SPANISH INTERACTIVE CULTURAL PROJECTS Descubriendo El Nuevo Mundo Vol.1 Central America - Reading Comprehension - Cut and paste Activity - Group Discussion - Poster Design & Creation - Writing Activity The following project pack contains 3 sections: 1. COUNTRY INFORMATION EXTRACTS 2. PICTURE ELEMENTS 3. POSTER TEMPLATES COUNTRY INFORMATION EXTRACTS are short texts containing information on the country in question. Students are to read each extracts and make notes of the important points as a reading comprehension activity. The PICTURE ELEMENTS have been specifically designed to portray information contained in the extracts. Students are then presented with the POSTER TEMPLATES, there is 1 poster template for each of the countries in question. Each template has 4 blank spaces each of which should contain a cutout of a picture element. Next to each space there are blank lines for a short paragraph to be written. An option would be to divide students into small groups and assigning a different central american country to each group. Within each group, students will discuss the main information points relevant to the country assigned, select 4 picture elements relevant to the country and together come up with 4 short paragraphs relating the picture to the country on the basis of what they have learned from the extract. This is a multi-level project activity as the length and complexity of the paragraph can be adjusted to the level of the students in questions. EXTENSION: This project can lead onto a bigger and more independent activity, where students go on to carry out their own research on the assigned country (in other words they create their own extracts) and proceed to nd suitable images or even their own drawings to create large posters. Ultimately they would have to produce short paragraphs relating their images/drawings to the information collected. Total no. of pages: 31

Spanish GCSE Speaking Exam Game to Practise Key Vocab (accompanies my GCSE Speaking booklet)

Spanish GCSE Speaking Exam Game to Practise Key Vocab (accompanies my GCSE Speaking booklet)

This Speaking game accompanies the Support Material document I have also uploaded. Vocab from that document is used in this game, along with language from a range of themes and topics covered at GCSE. This document has 8 pages. Page 1 - Information and Rules on How to Play 'Link 5'. Pupils can also refer to these during the game. How To Play: • Either choose a number OR to make the game more difficult, roll a dice up to 5 times per turn, to get a number. • AIM: To be the first person to LINK 5 (in any direction, so long as linked). Your opponent must try to block you and link his/her own 5. • When you choose a number, pick up any card and translate it into English. If correct (answers on back to check AFTER translation), either put a counter or your colour dot on that number. Then, it is your opponent’s turn. • If your answer is incorrect, your opponent has a chance to translate your card correctly. Once a card has been used, place it at the bottom of the pile. The translation has to match, apart from slightly different wording, which is allowed. • Keep playing until someone LINKS 5 or you are both blocked! Underneath these instructions on the first page, is the 30 square board on which to play. You can choose whether to print this and for it to written on by pupils and therefore be disposable or you can laminate it and use counters etc, so the board can be used numerous times. Pages 2, 3 and 4 - Question cards to use for game. There are 36 in total and the Spanish on the cards varies in difficulty, so you can tailor the cards to the needs of your pupils. Each card has a thick black border and they are spaced evenly, to make it easier to laminate and cut. Pages 5, 6 and 7 - The English translation of each Question card. These are in a lighter colour font, so when you cut them and stick them to the back of the Question cards, pupils cannot read the answer through the paper! I have produced the answers in such a way that enables you to lay the page on the back of the Question card page (obviously making sure you match them correctly) and to then stick them in exact alignment, prior to laminating and cutting. You may prefer not to provide answers, but this can be useful to ensure that there are no disputes about correct responses, during the game! Page 8 - There are 30 Yellow counters and 30 Red. It is unlikely you will require anywhere near this amount of each colour, but they are there in-case. They are, again, spaced evenly, to make cutting easier. You may choose to use real counters or, laminate the board and pupils mark their 'counters' with a board pen, or you could leave the paper un-laminated and pupils put a coloured dot on their spaces. You could add extra rules to make the game more interesting (eg: if they can also answer the question in Spanish, they can add another counter).

New GCSE Spanish Speaking Exam - 3 Page Document with Key Vocab and also Translation Exercises.

New GCSE Spanish Speaking Exam - 3 Page Document with Key Vocab and also Translation Exercises.

I have created this resource, to help both you as the teacher, but primarily, to help prepare your students for the New GCSE Speaking Exam. I have looked over lots of Sample Photo Cards and Role-Plays and extracted the most common language, that students need to learn and continually practise, from the beginning of their GCSE Course, if they are to achieve their potential in the exam. The document is 3 pages long, containing approximately 75 words and phrases which come up regularly throughout different topics, on both the Photo Cards and Role-Play Cards. Page 1 - Title Page, gives contents and advice to students on how best to learn and remember the vocab. Page 2 - Key questions and vocab from a range of Foundation and Higher Photo Cards. Spanish and English is given. These vocab grids are then followed by 4 sentences in Spanish, for students to translate into English. Page 3 - Key question words and vocab from a number of Foundation and Higher Role-Play cards. Again, 4 sentences are then given, with space for students to write English translations. Over the next couple of weeks, I will be creating and uploading more resources, to help students excel in the Spoken Skill. These will include activities to do in lessons, as well as practice exercises, which can be done at home.

Pronunciación - Normas y práctica (Pronunciation Rules and Practice)

This presentation includes a comprehensive review of pronunciation rules in Spanish, as well as several visuals an examples for each rules. It also includes several fun tongue-twisters for students to use to practice pronunciation. To conclude this activity, my students wrote and shared aloud their own tongue twisters, and we had tons of fun giggling over and trying each others' tongue twisters.
