6.G.A.2 - Quiz and Answer Guide

Our quizzes are brief, formative diagnostic tools designed to test mastery and identify misconceptions a student has around a single Common Core standard. Assess your students' ability to find the volume of a right rectangular prism with fractional edge lengths by packing it with unit cubes of the appropriate unit fraction edge lengths, and show that the volume is the same as would be found by multiplying the edge lengths of the prism with this quiz. This product includes: • 2 fill-in-the-blank questions • 1 multiple choice question • An accompanying answer guide with correct answers, answer choice rationales, and DOK (Depth of Knowledge) levels

GCSE Higher exam-style questions: Fractions, ratios and percentages

GCSE Higher exam-style questions: Fractions, ratios and percentages

[Updated 20/9/2017: Basic ratio problems added to Exercise 1] This worksheet is aimed at students capable of attaining at least levels 4 to 7 of the new maths specification. This is a high-quality resource but priced low to encourage sales. Exercise 1 is a basic lead-in exercise in converting fractions to percentages, percentages to fractions, and ratios to their lowest form, all without using a calculator. Exercise 2, 3 and 4 are longer more challenging questions. Exercise 2 is based on application of a government levy to gas and electricity sales made by an energy company. Exercise 3 is based on the salt water content of a lake and comparing it to sea water, finding various ratios, masses, etc. Exercise 4, which is the longest exercise, is based on fuel deliveries made by a fuel distribution company, involving a range of calculations from fuel economy to Gross Profit Margin. The latter is fully explained in the exercise. An answer sheet with full workings for the longer exercises is appended to the worksheet. PLEASE CHECK the notes on calculating Net Sales before giving Exercise 4, part (j) to your students, as they will need some explanation of that term. DOCX and PDF worksheets supplied.

Weights and Measures Wordsearch Metric Imperial Starter Settler Activity Homework Cover Lesson

Weights and Measures Wordsearch Metric Imperial Starter Settler Activity Homework Cover Lesson

Wordsearch on the theme of 'Weights and Measures'. Powerpoint so can be used on the board or printed as a worksheet. Includes space for students to explain the keywords and suggested extension activities. Can take 10 minutes or an hour, depending on which activities the students complete. Ideal for the start of a lesson, a quick filler, a homework, part of a cover lesson or as a plenary on the board with a whiteboard pen. The idea behind these is to get students to become more literate and think independently about the words that could be used to describe the topic being taught. The repetition of the word over and over as they look for the word is useful in remembering the terms. Often the students will pick up on things that you would not normally expect!
