6.G.A.2 - Quiz and Answer Guide

Our quizzes are brief, formative diagnostic tools designed to test mastery and identify misconceptions a student has around a single Common Core standard. Assess your students' ability to find the volume of a right rectangular prism with fractional edge lengths by packing it with unit cubes of the appropriate unit fraction edge lengths, and show that the volume is the same as would be found by multiplying the edge lengths of the prism with this quiz. This product includes: • 2 fill-in-the-blank questions • 1 multiple choice question • An accompanying answer guide with correct answers, answer choice rationales, and DOK (Depth of Knowledge) levels

GCSE Higher exam-style questions: Fractions, ratios and percentages (Updated 22/9/2017)

GCSE Higher exam-style questions: Fractions, ratios and percentages (Updated 22/9/2017)

[Updated 20/9/2017: Ratio 'cancelling' problems added to Exercise 1] [Updated 21/9/2017: Description amended / typo errors corrected] [Updated 22/9/2017: Description amended to have a rant against TES!] This worksheet is aimed at students capable of attaining at least levels 5 to 7 of the new maths specification. This is a high-quality resource but priced low to encourage sales. I would price it lower if I could (and rely on a higher volume of sales to make a reasonable profit for the effort put in, which is substantial, believe me!) but TES forces a minimum price of £2, and a maximum discount of 25%, so the mimimum I can price it at is £1.50). Personally, I don't believe that resources should be expensive because teachers need so many!!! I have contacted TES in this regard but don't hold your breath - previous reasonable suggestions have been accepted, months ago, but have not yet been implemented!). Exercise 1 is a basic lead-in exercise in converting fractions to percentages, percentages to fractions, and cancelling ratios to their lowest form, all without using a calculator. Exercise 2, 3 and 4 are longer more challenging questions. Exercise 2 is based on application of a government levy to gas and electricity sales made by an energy company. Exercise 3 is based on the salt water content of a lake and comparing it to sea water, finding various ratios, masses, etc. Exercise 4, which is the longest exercise, is based on fuel deliveries made by a fuel distribution company, involving a range of calculations from lorry fuel economy to Gross Profit Margin (GPM). GPM is fully explained in the exercise. An answer sheet with full workings for the longer exercises is appended to the worksheet. PLEASE CHECK the notes on calculating Net Sales before giving Exercise 4, part (j) to your students, as they will need some explanation of that term. DOCX and PDF worksheets supplied.
