Scotland (St Andrew's Day)

Scotland (St Andrew's Day)

A giant crossword designed to be completed in groups, featuring 100 quiz-style clues on all things Scottish. Ideal for Saint Andrew’s Day on 30th November, other Scottish celebrations such as Burns Night, end of term fun, start of term fun, as part of a Scotland topic or simply to get students discussing Scottish history, politics, geography, sport, wildlife, popular culture, traditions and more. It suits Third and Fourth Level pupils at Secondary (KS3 and KS4 and other equivalents) and would also work well at Second Level in Primary - P6 and P7 (Year 5 and 6 and other equivalents). There is a support sheet of answers in alphabetical order, which could be provided for younger or less able pupils in order to make completion of the puzzle significantly easier but still a fun challenge. You might want to give this support sheet out once students have done as much as they can do without help. Due to the wide range of facts in the puzzle, it works best when students can pool their knowledge in a group. They could research any clues they are unable to work out for themselves. The crossword works especially well if you print it in A3 but it works fine in A3 too. A solution grid is also provided, which could be printed or displayed on the whiteboard at the end. Includes: Robert Burns, Scottish Wars of Independence, Scottish Parliament, rivers, cities, inventors, art, literature, music, clothing, food, sports stars, mountains, islands, actors, Kings and Queens and more. I hope you and your pupils have lots of fun using this. If you can spare a moment I would be grateful for a review. Many thanks. Doing some seasonal planning?
