Special Number Properties Primes Factor Multiple Key Word Flash Cards SNATCH MATCH activity game

Special Number Properties Primes Factor Multiple Key Word Flash Cards SNATCH MATCH activity game

All the key words you need for number properties lessons at KS3. Any of these words can be printed out and laminated on A5 size cards for the "SNATCH MATCH" game. This is where the words are blu tacked to the wall and students stand a metre away. Teacher (or a TA or competent pupil) asks questions where the answer is one of the snatch match cards. The students are usually in two teams facing the wall. Two students at a time have the opportunity to snatch the right card. Loads of fun! If you like this then please check out my many other Maths activities listed on my TES Resources shop and pages including many Premium resources which may be able to save you lots of time and give you some useful ideas. Square Number Recognition Maze Puzzle Game Collaborative Simple Fun Activity End of Term Time Filler

Square Number Recognition Maze Puzzle Game Collaborative Simple Fun Activity End of Term Time Filler

This is well worth the download purchase cost because you can keep your students occupied for hours on these! A maze worksheet where students have to find their way through a maze using a path of only square numbers. This is a top quality way to engage and amuse the students - particularly in afternoon lessons or at the end of the term as they seem to love it. Once they have got the idea with the smaller mazes they can attempt the bigger ones - this will keep them busy for hours! (well most of the lesson with any luck). There are three versions of the practice simpler versions and then one harder (04) and then the hardest (05). I'm putting up all my square numbers activities so check them out on TES shortly! GCSE Problem Solving Questions of the Day - 20th April

GCSE Problem Solving Questions of the Day - 20th April

Every day in the run up to the GCSE exams we are intending to put up two GCSE problems of the day on Twitter. Here are the files you can use in the classroom. For each problem there are some variations that you might want to use instead or in addition. The first problem is suitable for foundation and higher and the second is suitable for higher. The first problem involves understanding the number line to work out the mean of some numbers. The second problem involves simplifying surds and then finding the mean average. We hope you enjoy using them. Please tweet your student solutions to @WRMathsHub for a chance to win a prize

GCSE Problem Solving Questions of the Day - 13th April

GCSE Problem Solving Questions of the Day - 13th April

Every day in the run up to the GCSE exams we are intending to put up two GCSE problems of the day on Twitter. Here are the files you can use in the classroom. For each problem there are some variations that you might want to use instead or in addition. The first problem is suitable for foundation and higher and the second is suitable for higher. The first problem involves finding ratio of amounts and seeing if there is a enough money in a jar. The alternative provided gets students to add some coins and then work out the new ratio. The second problem involves students finding the length of a side of an right angled isosceles triangle given only the hypotenuse and then they have to find the area. The alternative is a bit more involved and you have to find a length. We hope you enjoy using them. Please tweet your student solutions to @WRMathsHub for a chance to win a prize Answers included (there may be alternative solutions)

Pythagoras - Charlotte's Web

Pythagoras - Charlotte's Web

Introduces Pythagoras Theorem. Main part of the lesson involves calculating missing side lengths on a number of connected triangles (looks a bit like a spider web). Context is a spider web which needs fixing. By finding the missing side lengths, students can help 'Charlotte' fix her web. Also includes two real life examples which can be used as a plenary. First one is a ladder against a wall. Second one is the Eiffel Tower. Learning Objectives : What students should achieve by the end of the lesson (WALT – we are learning to) • Identify right angled triangles • Use knowledge of Algebra in other topics e.g. substitution, solving equations • Learn Pythagoras Theorem and be able to use it Learning Outcomes : (WILF – what I’m looking for) • All students will/must : Be able to use Pythagoras Theorem to find the hypotenuse of a right angled triangle given the opposite and adjacent measurements. • Most students will/should : Be able to use Pythagoras to find any side of a right angled triangle given • Some students will/could: Be able to solve real life problems using Pythagoras Theorem and identify where it can be used. Have a good understanding of the proof behind Pythagoras theorem.
