#### Year 4 Maths BUNDLE

This resource is a BUNDLE of all of the different strands of the 2014 National Curriculum of England’s Maths objectives for Year 4 in NUMBER &amp; PLACE VALUE; OPERATIONS; FRACTIONS &amp; DECIMALS; MEASUREMENT; AND PROPERTIES OF SHAPE. #### Year 4 Maths: Fractions & Decimals

This resource has been made using the** fractions &amp; decimals objectives for Year 4** from the 2014 National Curriculum of England: Recognise and show, using diagrams, families of common equivalent fractions Count up and down in hundredths; recognise that hundredths arise when dividing an object by one hundred and dividing tenths by ten Solve problems involving increasingly harder fractions to calculate quantities, and fractions to divide quantities, including non-unit fractions where the answer is a whole number Add and subtract fractions with the same denominator Recognise and write decimal equivalents of any number of tenths or hundredths Recognise and write decimal equivalents to ¼, ½, ¾ Find the effect of dividing a one- or two-digit number by 10 and 100, identifying the value of the digits in the answer as ones, tenths and hundredths Round decimals with one decimal place to the nearest whole number Compare number with the same number of decimal places up to two decimal places Solve simple measure and money problems involving fractions and decimals to two decimal places ADDITIONALLY there is HANDS-ON FRACTION AND DECIMAL PRACTICE WITH PIZZA for children to apply their understanding in context with calculating costs and measuring ingredients… The pack can be used for reinforcement, in Maths centres for review, Morning Maths work, as well as for home learning tasks.

#### Engineering Professionals

This teacher resource helps to investigate the role of an engineering professional, including their impact on the environment and Society. It has a class task at the end of the PPT to help students demonstrate their understanding of engineering professionals.

#### Introduction to Renewable Energy to create a Sustainable City

This teacher resource helps the teacher to introduce ‘Renewable Energy’. It explains different renewable energies (eg: Wind Energy, Hydropower, Geothermal Energy, Sound Energy…). This unit of work introduces the topic using links to few video clips. At the end of the PPT there is a class task for students to create a sustainable city in a chosen area. The PPT also includes help to create ‘Mood boards’ and ‘Annotated map’ of the chosen area with marking criteria.

#### Introduction to Drone Technology

This teacher resource helps the teacher to introduce ‘Drones’. It gives a brief history as well as detail applications about how they are currently used in different fields (e.g. Search and rescue, Scientific Research, Disaster relief, Agriculture, Sports etc.). The PPT introduces the topic using links to few video clips as well as class activity description for the unit of work. At the end of the PPT there is the task for students to look at the functionality of a drone which is in use currently and to modify it to fulfil another area in need to make this world a better place. An example of how to achieve this is also given and outline for concept folio.

#### Food Science group task/Key words

A set of 10 cards that can be used to introduce or revise food science key words. This activity promotes team work, independence, and communication skills. Could be used at both KS3 and KS4. Easily adapted to other topices. I have included both a PDF version and a PPT version for editing.

#### Engineering in the Movies

Engineering in the Movies allows pupils to explore the creative and practical side of STEM in the movie industry, whilst introducing the important role engineers have in the movie industry. Through 12 engaging activities, pupils will link topics taught in their subject lessons with applications in real world engineering. This resource provides hands-on thematic education opportunities to pupils interested in the magical world of movies that can be taught in the classroom and as an enrichment programme. The resources can be used in sequence, or separately as part of the curriculum, or in STEM clubs. The resources cover a range of topics from the computing, design and technology, mats and science curricula in all the devolved nations at KS2 and KS3.

This Media Permission Form records parent consent for children’s photo to be taken for classroom use and also records consent for photos to be posted on your Google Classroom website. Don’t have or use Google Classroom? Edit this Media Permission Form in Google Docs to your liking. Included is a printable PDF file as well as an editable Google Doc. You can add/remove words and synonyms as you feel best suits your class.

I have produced 3 differentiated booklets for year 7. All covering the same content, just at varying levels. They cover hygiene and safety, small amount of design work and work on fruit. Some sensory analysis work, eatwell guide and planning tasks

#### Smart and Modern Materials Card Sort

A great lesson starter/settler or revision tool. Learners are to match the image of the smart and modern material to the properties and the uses. Cards are designed to be able to be printed back to back and laminated.

#### STEM / Computing / Maths Project Lesson - Maths in Computing

This is an activity lesson I made to promote STEM / Computing / Maths. The activity involves 3 activities linking maths and computing. The first looks at potential roles involving STEM and is designed to raise awareness and aspirations for students. This is a card matchup that I printed out and cut up for students to try to match. The second looks at Boolean logic and logic circuits. The final activity involves the use of Formulae and Pythagoras in calculating damage in a video game. There is a worksheet for this activity too. It is designed to last around an hour. It was originally pitched for year 9 students, but would be suitable for 8 and 10. Comes with a powerpoint with key instructions and questions, along with 2 activity sheets.

#### STEM / Computing / Maths Project Lesson - Christmas Computing

This is an activity lesson I made to promote STEM / Computing / Maths. The activity involves 3 festive themed activites with links to STEM/Computing/Maths. In the first, students look at flowcharts to represent the workflow at the northpole. In the second, students write basic code to navigate a grid and in the final activity students use binary strings to construct Christmas bitmap images. It is designed to last around an hour. It was originally pitched for year 7 students, but would be suitable for 8 and 9. Comes with a powerpoint with key instructions and questions, along with a worksheet for the final activity.

#### Food science scheme of work and resources.

This project is based around a rotation of 12 1 hour lessons. Included is a SOW, power point presentation with slides for each lesson, recipes, cake method information sheets for one of the activities, recipes and an end of topic test with answers. The project covers the following food science related words: Gluten, gelatinisation, coagulation, aeration and caramelisation. Each recipe demonstrated one of these key words. Homework is suggested on the SOW but is not for students to complete in their booklets. This avoids them losing them if they take them home! This SOW directly links to the new Food preparation and nutrition GCSE. I follow the AQA specification, however, this project could be used to support any of the exam board specs. I teach this to my yr 8s, however, it could easily be adapted or added to for other year groups.

#### STEM / Computing / Maths Project Lesson - Engineer a Smartphone - Product Design Challege

This is an activity lesson I made to promote STEM / Computing / Maths. The activity involves the students working in groups to design, market and calculate costings for their own smartphones. It is a highly engaging activity getting students thinking about the key aspects including engineering decisions, financial calculations and helps develop managerial skills. Content includes choosing components for their phones, branding it, choosing materials, creating scale drawings, creating a promotional poster and presenting back to the class. It could easily be used as a whole year group event in a hall or similar venue, or on a smaller scale in lessons. It was originally pitched for year 9 students, but would be suitable for 8 and 10, and high ability year 7s. Comes with a powerpoint with key instructions, but focuses around the pack of worksheets which I print 2 to a page and give out 1 between 4.
